Do you think my neice is a little too large for her age?

She'll be 4 in december. Here is her pic...

My fiance always comments on how fat she is and how her mom (my cousin) is a horrible mother. It is starting to bother me now that Staci may end up like the rest of her family (obese). Am I out of my mind to bring it up with her? Would she even take me seriously? The give her snacks almost every 1-2 hours, she also eats out once every other day.

BTW... that's Staci's favorite bathing suit! She loves to go swimming! She always asks if she can "go play with the ducks" (toys in pool).

Jesuss... it's not like I have a plethora of her pics on my comp. I didn't think pedophiles would be hanging out in the parenting section.

I find it a bit disturbing that you are posting your niece's photo in a bathing suit on the Internet without her parents' permission.

I don't think there is much you can do. Hopefully her doctor will discuss her weight with her parents.
It really isn't any of your business, even though your intentions are good.

From the picture yes she does look a little overweight. I don't think that at age 4 she needs to eat every 2 hours. I would suggest that 3 meals a day with one or two snacks in sufficient. Is she getting enough exercise, etc. Some children are never going to grow up and be a stick. It is just not in their genes, however, I believe that their is overweight and their is fat. And she is a very cute, darling little girl that number one don't need to be self conscious at a young age. So take her outside have her exercise, feed her healthy foods, and give her snacks but give her grapes, apples, things that are healthy.

I agree with the first poster. You need to be careful about posting a childs photo in a bathing suit. There are some real crazies out there.

She looks fine to me, but of course eating healthy and being active is important based on her family history. Maybe give that cutie pie ballet lessons or soccer gear for her birthday/Christmas to encourage it.

I think when the child is healthy and happy, you shouldn't be meddling as you are not the parent. If it is a real concern, serve healthy food when they come over for dinner but don't mention it to them. It's not your place nor your business and I hope nothing is said to that child about it from you or your spouse b/c I was chubby as a child and let me tell you, when you hear that all your life, you tend to eat more to drown out the pain! So please kind.

I understand your intentions are good but really, aside from supplying them healthy food when they visit..that is their problem not yours! And don't report to social services like the one suggested..that's over the top!

She's adorable but they may want to curb all the snacks they give her or at least give her fresh fruit or veggies as a snack. And I think you should have asked for permission before posting her pic.

second she is a little heavy. this is not your child so you are in a tough place. if you think she is being over fed talk to her if she wont listen report her to social services.

how much does she weigh.... she looks like I did at 4... a bit chubby... but it's ok to me... I think she looks fine... BTW I bought that lil swim suit for my dayghter too... lol
