The two year old left by themselves in a locked, windows up SUV by a parent you would think has child welfare on their mind everyday - an educator at a local hight school!!! How do you come to the mind set to think - "Oh its going to be 99 degrees in Cincinnnati today, maybe Jr. can sit for 8 hours in my car" This seems to happen every few days in America, and I never can see what the excuse is. How can you forget a child you "love" is in the car with you when you park to go into work or shopping??? Do you think the death of the child is punishnment enough or should we put these people in jail to maybe ensure no other children are in their care?

Bro - I really was trying to keep politics and race out of this, which the two other issues definitly have become. My views on abortion are definitly known on this site so I was not trying to diminish that or definilty say cruelity to an animal approaches it even though I couldn't even kill a dog if it was mine because I know the pain I feel when my pets die of natural causes.

Beardog - I don't know where you get your medical knowledge but a few minutes in a car witho outside tempatures of 100 put the internal temperature at about 130 or more basically baking the child and it organs. Maybe you need to know what a horrible death this was to a child who could talk and reason getting hotter and hotter before passing out and dying. I would not even put an animal in a car for a half an hour in the heat. Just go to a car lot and ask them to let you jump in a black car at about 2:00 PM on a 99 degree day you will see what five minutes in that tempature does to you.

Irish Indian thanks for backing me up on the dangers of just a short time for a toddler in a heated car.

The parent was the assistant principal at the school and she even remembered during the eight hours her child sat in the SUV that she had left donuts in the vehicle for her staff and she went out and got them but still did not see the little child. By the way cornor said the internal core temp of the child 108 degrees so the excuse that it wasn't a big deal or the child could last a long time is so off base.

I heard that this morning and even though it has become more frequent, it always shocks me.

My daughter is 6 years old, and I can honestly say that I can't imagine a parent "forgetting" their child in a car, in their home or anywhere else. When you become a parent, your child needs to be first and foremost on your mind at all time! The MOST important thing in your entire life. No excuses, no exceptions. I always know where she is.

And Bro, I see your point about each situation having unique circumstances, but even considering ANY imaginable situation, I still don't see how a parent could do such a thing.

This is to beardog4314....You need to get your head out of your a$$. Apparently you aren't smart enough to figure out that if it is 99 degrees outside, it's going to be about 118 degrees in that car. Now for a small child, gee lets say 2 years old. Being left in a car for 8 hours in that amount of heat will cook his brain!!! How do I know this you might ask? Well, a previous boss of mine lost his 2 year old nephew from that exact scenario. The babysitter decided to go into a Casino and gamble a while in New Orleans and left the child in the car. His brain cooked!!!!! People like you should never breed with answers like you just gave! You are a complete idiot! Anyone that does that to a child deserves the maximum sentence allowed and then some! Mind your own business....how absurd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have either been turned in for child abuse or you don't have a brain in your head!!!!!

It happened in my neighborhood- car parked at the grocery store- 88 F...
little guy was sweating and crying... I broke the window while
another person called the cops.
Lady came out and was upset that I had damaged her car.
The cop and EMT guy told her:

1- she could file a police report which would be sent to both her insurance company and CPS.
2- she could be arrested then and there for child endangerment and CPS would take her baby away.

Cop had the info and said I could leave.
This was last year- no action taken against me. I could not find out anything further about the baby.

There needs to be stricter punishment for the people who leave their child in a hot car. If it is hot outside, I do not even take my 4 month old with me, even if I am only going to be gone a few minutes.

The circumstances of every different situation must be considered.
I guarantee you that the knowledge of what she has done, accident or not, will be far more cruel to her then anything the court can do.

I know this angers you terribly, and it does me too.

What about the 43 000 000 (that's right , million) babies that were torn limb from limb in what is called a "choice" before they could even be born? And this was done on purpose, with the laws consent. We should be outraged and horrified by this.
Not an accident of a grieving mother or even a few dogs killed by a NFL star.

I think the whole country would benefit from a big hot cup of Mind-your-own-business when it comes to child rearing. An hour in a car is NOT going to kill a two year old, and openly questioning someone's love for their child simply because you disagree with a decision they've made is impossibly rude. Shame on you. Judge not, lest you be judged.

Nobody wants the government to run their lives, but they all want it to run everyone else's! When did it become okay to be such a busy-body?

EDIT: We don't all have climate controlled luxury cars my friend, are you honestly telling me that you've never sat in car on a 100 degree day? I don't have a medical degree, but the fact that I'm not dead suggests to me that it might not be as lethal as you claim. Where did you get your PhD from?

But hey, enjoy your self-righteous outrage. I'm sure you're a much better person for it.

She should serve time in jail and I know for a fact that they dont like child abusers and perverts and child sex addicts, etc. They learn their place in jail. I hope she gets what is coming to her!!!!!!!
