Most pregnant teens don't get new houses... but it would be better if they would. These new houses cost about 50,000 or less. The average productive adult will make far over 5 million dollars for society in their life time, and the average unproductive adult will cost almost a million depending on the damage they'll cause. Habitat for humanity didn't build the new house for just the teenage girl and her baby, that house is for me too. It improves my chances of living in a productive, safe country that I can feel good about.

Habitat for humanity is, in my opinion, basically sending the wrong message that if a teen messes up, her problems will be solved for her. I think this is wrong because it tells teens that there are no consequences for there actions. It is important to inform our youth about abstinence and about safe sex. Even though giving her a house is somewhat required because of the government's ability to provide child support of those in "need", it still is wrong and shows that the pregnant teen can rely on the government for support instead of going through it the hard way and learning from her poor decision making.

That since the father won't take care of his girlfriend and baby, somebody else needs to.
Habitat for Humanity doesn't give ANYBODY a house. They sell them at cost. Since a teen can't sign a contract, HfH can't help them.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....What do you see? You must remember the "gift" is not without conditions. Would you be more offended if they gave it to a welfare mom with six children and six fathers of those children. Or maybe they should only be given to families who are not having a difficult time?

They give her the message that her child is deserved of a safe place to live. Children should not be punished because their parents make mistakes. And that parents are deserved of second chances to get their life together.

Where I live I think you have to put in a certain amount of hours helping build your future home . I'd be shocked that they would have a pregnant teen helping build the home.

sort of mixed messages. regardless of how old she is, they need a place to stay. the shelter is no place to raise a child if you don't have to. on the other hand, i could see where the idea that it's okay to get pregnant as a teen, they'll give me a free house!!! the main thing is that there's a roof over that baby's head. period.

That they admire the fact that she managed to do the number of work hours required no matter what else was going on in her life. that everyone is entitled to a decent place to live. That they believe she'll succeed.
