typically which would you perfer, going out to some expencive resturaunt and a movie or would you rather go to the guy's house and have him cook for you and rent a few movies? This may be a real generalized question but if given a choice between the two which would you like?

for me i would say neither. i would prefer a picnic in a safe place in the mountains on a mild breezy day on a soft comfortable down blanket with good food and drink where we can concentrate soley on each other(no tv, movies or other people around)and talk and kiss and cuddle and watch a most BEAUTIFUL sunset :) that's how it would be for me and the man i am interested after we have dated for a while of course and really care for each other.
but...well since you already picked. the one i suppose i would choose would be the one at the romantic restaurant...for a first date ofcourse.
i dont think it's wise for anyone to go to someone's house for the first few dates of just meeting because you dont know the person well yet and they could be a serial killer or something and put poison or some paralying drug in the food...you never know. call me paranoid if you want but these things could happen and, for me, i think about safety first. him home and cooking for me would be after we've dated for a while

It would really depend on how well I know the guy. If I know him really well then I would pick the at home with him cooking and renting some movies. I really prefer that. I think it is very sexy to have a guy cook for me. But If I am just beginning to know him, it would be the restaraunt and movies untill I feel that I would be safe with him.

For a first date, definitely the restaurant and movie, but the restaurant doesn't have to be expensive. That way, the territory that you meet on is neutral. If you are already comfortably dating, the guy's house with him cooking and few movies would be the better choice because you get to alone and bond on a few levels - cooking together, eating together, cuddled on the couch together.
To ask a girl to your place on the first date is forcing intimacy that doesn't yet exist.

I prefer to have the guy cook me dinner but don't want it to be a habit. Once in a while a man should take a woman out to a nice restaurant.
Women like to be courted and don't want a man to just come over and hang out on the couch so a date outside is a great idea.

the dinner at home with the rented movies. its much nicer and shows how much the guy cares about you. while you still get to find out how good a cook he is lol. there you know you will enjoy yourself

Its hard to pick just one but there is something special about him cooking for me, its a bigger turn on, plus if I'm at his place that means we have privacy in case I get too worked up :)
