This is especially true if you're asking for people to recommend a camera for you. To answer as well as we can we need to know what you're going to use the camera for, what are your minimum requirements, what is your budget, etc. I would also like answerers to not make recommendations if they don't know anything about cameras or photography, but I guess that's too much to ask. You may like your camera, but it might not be the best one for other people.

And please don't go through somebody's Q&A profile just to give them thumbs down for their answers because they disagreed with you or because you don't like them.

Yes, it isn't just in Consumer Electronics either. I've run into it across the board. The more detail given in the question, the more specific an answer can be to a person's needs. Not to mention, it might save an answerer a lot of time preparing a great detailed answer about info the questioner didn't need.

I agree as far as going through to thumbs down someone you don't agree with. . .But,will admit I've done it once when I found a really rude poster being rude over and over to people. I didn't thumbs down if the post was actually not rude, but they were 99% rude! They weren't over the edge reporting wise, but definitely attack animals. For this to be a good forum, people need to feel safe asking questions, and not told they are idiots for asking. That is rude.

Very true. A great many questions are like this:
I want to buy the best digital camera, fairly inexpensive.
Now that's extremely vague. But that's sorta what they ask.
PS One girl wanted to pick by color only. "I want to buy a digital camera and it has to be pink".
