its no different than parents who dont watch their kids in shopping malls and stores and the kids get abducted. or parents who leave kids at home that are too young to be home alone or parents who go on vacation and leave their kids sleeping in a hotel while they go out to eat.

these kids of people shouldnt be parents. but they are. these people dont listen they know its wrong and they dont care. they say they are my kids i can do what i want to them

its like parents who have filthy houses with bugs and piles of animal and human waste every where its their home their kids its not supposed to be our business but sadly it is. because these people live like this.
yes they are your kids but you supposed to have the sense to care for them properly

this includes a safe clean home. food clothes and child care for while you work

It's so sad when a child dies because of their parents stupidity. In California, there is a campaign going on where people are making posters. The posters say "You wouldn't put your baby in the oven why leave them in a car?". There are also a few overpasses on the freeways and interstates that say ""Never leave a child in the car". Seems like common sense to me. I don't think this is a lack of knowledge, its a lack of common sense on the parents behalf. Too bad you can't just give people common sense or rid them of stupidity. BTW In California, before taking your baby home from the hospital, you have to sign this form about car seat safety, and never leaving your child in the car, no matter what age.

the first time the realities of the world became known to me i was two. my parents never shielded us children from the consequences of our actions or the world at large. as my mother said often in my childhood, stupid children do not survive. she was right, some of my peers did not survive childhood. i do hope you remind that 12 year old boy that it wasn't until recently that the easy bake oven were marketed exclusively to girls. before that, the oven was white and unisex. what always makes me question the gender bias about that item is that chef's are mostly male. it is a male dominated profession and has been so for a very long time. it would make far more sense if we were going to be gender marketing an easy bake oven that it would be towards boys not girls as they are more likely to cook as a career. though conversely females are more likely to be cooking at home. strange huh? i have always thought so.

This is disgusting and disgracful. There is no reason to leave children alone in a car, and if a parent forgets that they have a child in the car that makes it even scarier! I have a 3 month old and I couldn't do that. Maybe this is something midwives should mention to parents when they visit after the birth. They shouldn't have to as it is common sense.

I would never forget about my child. I don't comprehend any of it! It makes no sense and It's beyond belief. I just feel sorry for the children because they are helpless. I absolutely have no sympathy for the parent(s) who do this.

A child dying or even getting serously hurt for that matter due to a parent(s) "forgetting" about them is not an honest mistake. There is just no excuse!

Our child is a part of us now, it's not just me and my husband anymore. So when we go out together or seperately we know we are not alone.

My wife and I went to the mall a wek or two ago and when we parked there was a minivan running in the row in front of us that we noticed on the way in.... we stayed for an hour and as we were leaving we noticed the same van... I walked up to just make sure everything was OK and inside was a toddler asleep in their car seat.

I went straight to mall security who called the police... well as they were arriving the mother showed up and said " This is his nap time, I can only get him to sleep in the car so I filled up with gas and knew that he couldnt get out of his seat to do anything to the car.... it was locked and I had the extra set to get in so whats the big deal... I do this all the time?"

DUH!!! If for some reason that van shut off that kid is going to roast within minutes.... you Jack..... WE LIVE IN FLORIDA IN IS OVER 90 degrees and humidity is over 90%..... WHAT ARE YOU THINKING????

I just answered another question about this..

When I had my 1st daughter in a Navy Hospital they played a video for me about having a baby and part of the video said when you have your baby in the car to put.. and I quote "Something important next to the car seat".. Like your purse or wallet so that you won't forget your baby!

It seemed really ridiculous to me to say you needed something important next to the MOST important thing in your life.. your BABY!! But I guess the advice is needed for some people.

Unbelievable huh??? Too unreal. I wish that somehow car seats could be electronically hooked up to cars and when you open the driver's door, the car seat sets off an alarm, to remind you that your child is still in the seat (you know, like when you leave your keys in the car).

Of course, it's really sad that anyone could forget their child! But obviously we need something like that, because apparently, it happens quite often.

I have been a mom for almost 19 years and not ONCE have I accidentally forgotten a child in the car. I try and try to not be judgemental, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how you could possibly forget your child in the car. I mean, you are the one who put them in there in the first place, right?

I haven't seen as many cases where people intentionally leave their children as much as people forgetting to drop their sleeping children off at daycare. I agree though, something needs to be done. Maybe daycare can start doing child check-ups where if you don't call and tell them your child will not be there, then they call the parent to find out what's going on. I don't know, just a thought!
