Not "all" dealers give Carfax reports.....
Just the reputable & ethical ones.
At the dealer that I am employed at we don't wait for you to ask for it.
We run full reports on all of our vehicles. We offer that report to all of our potential customers right up front.
We also run reports on all potential trade-ins.
That protects us as well !

The only thing that we cannot do is publish or transmit those reports.
That would be against the Carfax Terms of Service.
We also use a couple of other similar companies.
I like Autocheck.
For me the printout is easier to read & has a better layout.

by the way, thank you for not asking for us to give you a free report. Many people do.
It would be against the Yahoo! Terms of Service to publish or transmit something that I have no legal right to. So again I thank you.

I hope this helps!

No, they do not. Not do they have to. A CarFax report is a courtesy.

Please keep in mind that the CarFax will only show those accidents that are known to have happened. I know that sounds obvious. However, there are many wrecks that never get reported to any agency. These will not show up on CarFax.

Before you buy the car I would insist on a pre-purchase inspection from a reputible auto mechanic. This, along with the CarFax lowers your risk of buying a wrecked used car.

not all do but all states dont report all incidents that can happen to a vehicle. You can make a sale subject to mechanics inspection and check for any possible issues.
