I'm a step father and I have to say that any step relationship is a little strange and difficult. It's hard to say what to do without more details of you family. If you honor him as head of the house and not keep secrets with your mom, this will ease tension and any harsh feelings he may have towards you. Try going to him to ask for things instead of your mom. Don't go behind his back to your mom, or put your mom in a position to chose between what you want and what your step dad has said. When my stepdaughter has come to ask things of me, it has made me feel valued and loved. It makes it easy for me to think well of her and to want to do good things for her. I often have given her more than her mother would have because I appreciated what she has done. It also clears the air and makes it possible to express a proper love and build a relatonship. Relationships are always difficult, but anything worth while is usualy hard to get. Don't give up, you will be strengthening your character for it. :)

try to get to know him a little better. There's got to be a reason your mom married him right? Start to look for his good qualities - if he senses you're making an effort he might ease up on the nagging.

just try slowly to make friends you can. talk him abits at a time and stuff you can slowly gain his attention again. tell him out right you'd like to get to know him better and be family that would do it for sure.

First, as you confess, you just plainly don't like him. So why should he like you, despite whatever you may attempt?

Settle this fist, as men, especially in his age, are no fools.
