I think its depressing. What happened to make our culture so obsessed with youth? It's gotten to the point where people inject neurotoxins in their face tissue to look younger. How insane is that?

This is a very stark and relevant question.
The words "History repeats itself" and "If we fail to remember the past, we are condemned to repeat it" spring to mind.
As the laid-back strains of "What Is And What Should Never Be" float thru the air around me, I ponder your question..... and it strikes a chord very deep within my whole being.
As the muffled drones of my neighbour's lawn-mower penetrates my closed window, I read the answers from those before mine... granted, a few are frustrating reads from those youth who know not what they say, for they do not yet know who they are. But many are thought-provoking, thanks to your concerned question.
Yahoo is saturated with the young of whom you speak, but also penetrated by the older and wiser, not to exclude the group who may be older but none the wiser, nor, particularly, those wondrous, energetic youth who are blessed with the vision, patience and strength to move forward thru the constant torrent of frivilious pursuits. It is these whom I base my hope upon, and who we mid-agers need to engage with questions such as yours. So many of our youth are crowding the docks of Vanity, Profanity and Insanity to set sail aboard the Ships of Fools.
As I sit here with the voice of David Gilmour "Childhood's End" chiming in, I want the following image out of my head, a dread image of a future where our own children will neglect us in our final years. Where some young nameless nurse is tending to our every pathetic, dying need, who's one brief smile we will barely recognise thru our blurred vision, but becomes the daily high-point of our medicated daze......Zzzzzzzzzzzz.......

It says that we are weak in ourselves and have given in to corruption and lies. The common man no longer has backbone and will accept anything that he is told by those in office. When you pay homage to sports personalities and so called celebrities, then pay them vast amounts of money this is what you get, a break down in society, where money is the only thing that matters. When you pay respect to the past, you get respect in the future. When you say yes to the bad you are saying no to the good. In England today the Jehova's Witnesses have stood by a convicted paedophile. Even "religion" can no longer be trusted. Listen to the old and wise for they have the knowledge and the memories. Our countries are going to hell in handcart and the politicians have taken the brakes off. If you buy the magazines and watch the t.v programms that encourage such behaviour then you can not complain. Each of us must keep our own council, scruitinize our own morals and be able to say " at least I know that I am truthful and can hold up my head as a good example to those who follow."

Yes it's gotten so that children are leading adults around by the nose. Can't disipline them, they'll call childrens services. Can't do nothing with them but let them run wild. It's this generation that will be running the world shortly.
Vapid - good description.

People have become quite stupid. Sad but true, we worship the vain and vapid, we support the dumb and useless, and we penalize the smart and useful by making them pay for everything

We realized the old and wise were really just old, racist and ignorant.

Not that the young and vapid are any better, but the old and wise ain't as sharp or kind as people make them out to be.

Because the youth think that their feelings and views are the only ones that matter, and their parents let them get away with it.

It's because young people are hotter. What does it say about us? It says we value sex. I can think of worse things.
