Atlanta wants to ban sagging your pants, it would be a crime if your pants sagged low enough that your underwear shows. Is this a good idea? Do you think the police have more important things to do than check if peoples pants are sagging too much? Or is sagging actually a problem that needs to be ended with fines or jail time? And what do you think about sagging? Is it just a harmless cool fashion or does it actually harm people--and if so, how?

Its just the new look for teen boys and it will pass in time - like any trend. Yes the police should have better things to do. Perhaps fashion prosecutions should be part of dealing with prostitutes.
IE: 1 for soliciting and 1 for what they are wearing - or almost wearing!

I am not fond of the practice, I think it looks nasty, unkempt. why would any one want to run around with their underwear hanging out?
That is my personal opinion of it, but at the same time, I think it is harmless, just because I think it looks rediculous, does not mean it should be banned. It is no worse than hiphuggers of the 60's or some of the butt high skirts and short shirts girls wear. It is simply a fashion statement and like all others will fall by the wayside when something better comes along

The cops put too much emphisis on how people dress, my kids all sag and so do their friends. they have never been in trouble and are sweet kids. I call them droopy drawers, and they call me a prude, no harm done

As a law enforcement officer, I like sagging pants and lots of facial piercing and long hair especially. With the crouch at you knees, these banger wanna bes can not run as fast and it ties up one of their hands to hold them up. Facial piercing and long hair give you great places to hold onto when engaging the same punks.

Outside of that, it serves no purpose.

Yes! I think it should be banned! I don't want to see anyone's under ware! This is ugly, why would any young girl want to have anything to do with a boy who's jeans are hanging down past his butt? It could be dangerous as well, what if some silly young kid were crossing the street and his jeans would drop to his ankles? He could get hit by a car. He could fall and bust out a few teeth! It would be wonderful if this stupid trend were to stop!

If I am not mistaken, there's a county in Texas near Houston that has already banned sagging. I think it's Brazos county.

Who says this is a "cool" fashion? It harms me because I don't want to see your boxers.

Seriously, if they passed an ordinance like that in my jurisdiction I don't think many officers would run out and write citations for it.

I think its funny when I arrest someone, and have them handcuffed, they start complaining about their pants falling down. Five minutes ago he was fine with his pants down around his knees......now its a big deal.

I am 100% for banning it! This is the most stupid thing I ever saw! 15 years ago I saw a kid for the first time with droopy jeans and I told him that his pants were falling down. I thought he didn't know. My then boy friend told me it was a fad. I never dreamed they would still be doing this stupid thing all these years later! I don't want to see anyone's under ware! Ugh! Dumbest thing I ever saw. I think these boys could be hiding stolen merchandise somewhere and who would be the wiser?

It is unfortunate that this even has to be considered. I, for one, would prefer to not have to see some punk's underwear hanging out, but I don't know if you can fine people for poor taste and a lack of common sense.

It is not harmless. Tourism and a city's economy depends on people willing to work there and visit. What the locals look like affect that. Get it?

I don't think it harms people I think it bothers people. Society associates people that sag their pants with drugs and crimes. It reminds them of rap videos etc. they feel offended and it would give them another way to imprison the people they don't like. I think the police should focus on real crimes for a change instead of making up ways to put innocent people under lock.
