My life does have meaning praise God!! The reason it does have meaning is because of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. They are the source of my peace and joy. Also, The Lord Jesus Christ is the source of my salvation. I know I have eternal life and I will end up in heaven when I die and that is the best gift anyone could receive. In my heart, I know God has a beautiful and wonderful plan for my life and that is brings me joy.

Certainly my life has meaning, to me. I'd be an arrogant fool to think that there is some sort of significance outside of my conscious experience.

What is the meaning of the life of your average farm animal? To become food? I think they would disagree if they could. They might say it is to enjoy food, to walk freely, to sleep well and to feel the cool breeze on a hot day. We usually aren't satisfied with such things. We need a "purpose".

Humans have the ability, far better than any other creature, to think about themselves and their lives, to evaluate goals and strategies to reach them. The downside of this ability is the urge to think that the value they place on these goals is intrinsic and universal. And yet so many of these goals conflict with those of other people! Who has the right right answers? Obviously no one person can claim the authority to determine the significance of every person's life, so there must be... well, any conclusion would be based on the faulty premise that "meaning" exists independent of awareness.

There are things in my life (people, ideas, activities) that are important to me. Some of them I choose, some appear to choose me. Pursuing, experiencing and understanding these things adds "meaning" to my life. They may NOT be meaningful to other people, but they direct my steps through life.

This doesn't mean I simply act on what I feel at any moment. It just means that certain priorities shine brighter for me, certain attitudes color my perceptions. I am free to follow, ignore or interpret the thoughts and feelings that arise from these personal "meanings". People who can't find meaning in life tend to withdraw from it, much like a person who loses their appetite has trouble eating healthily.

You may be thinking about the ultimate "purpose" of human life in general. That's part of the perception problem deriving from being able to think abstractly. The biological purpose of our lives is the same as any other creature's: to survive long enough to insure that a subsequent generation is well on the road to continuing the species. Every individual dies. The species continues, hopefully under ever-improving circumstances.

That brings up the associated meta-purposes of life. A species survives by adapting to a changing environment. As sentient beings, we have opportunities to control and adapt our environments to suit us. This turns our to be more difficult than it sounds because our environments are interconnected systems. Making water easier to gather has an effect on the ecology of the water source. Curing a disease can have the unintended consequence of enabling another disease, physiological problem or social disruption. An economic innovation that benefits one class of people can devastate another. It's not just the land we have to consider, but our bodies, our political systems and the way we build our homes. It all has an impact on the quality of life, which is not just about comfort, but sustainability, justice, equality, health and any other consequence that affects the ability of humanity to continue.

If our species were to die out short of some sort of transformation to a new form, that really WOULD make life seem pointless. Some may think of transformation in terms of evolutionary adaptation, others in terms of the afterlife, but neither one is guaranteed if we don't maintain a livable environment, on every level.

So, depending on how you define it, the meaning of life is to keep on keeping on, or it is what you make it mean.

Yes our life is a test from God to see if we will follow Him or the Satan. God wants us to know God and serve Him to pass His test. If we pass, He will reward us with Heaven, If we fail we shall be punished. How bad will depend on how bad we behaved in this life.

God creates us with a purpose. Creating us without any pupose will be like creating animals to be killed and eaten up by others for becoming their food. Greatest creation of God is our brain. It wasn't created to be wasted but to creat, to think, to know God and to become useful.

Sure. Why? Because I... and the people I care about... and the things that I think... and the things that I do... and the things that I learn... and the person that I have become... and the person I WILL become... give it meaning.

It has meaning to others, mainly my immediate family and close friends. It is meaningful because it won't last forever.
