Adam and Eve is a metaphor -- not literal history. It's poetic history in parable form -- not the literal story of two people.

IF you want to read Genesis literally, then all men and women were created in chapter 1 -- that's where different races come from. Then Adam and Eve were created in chapter 2 -- that's where the decedents of Abraham and the Israelites come from.

But that's if you want a literal reading of what the Bible actually says.

The Bible is a collection of 66 different books, some history, some poetry, some songs, some letters, as well as the rules of an ancient religion . . . written over the span of thousands of years. Problems arise when people can't tell one from another, and confuse them into each other.

Problems arise when you try to take a rule written for and by a certain group of people, and apply it to your life today (taking your disobedient child to the gates of the city to stone him, for example).

People tend to focus on the words in the Bible, and miss the message behind the story. The words of Genesis 1, for example, are poetry, the message is that God is powerful, neither of which is a history lesson.

The Bible is a fantastic collection of stories written by, about, and for the followers of of the God of Abraham, and the followers of Christ.

Godspeed.

Adam and Eve were the beginning for the human race and it is Jehovah's will an purpose that we all look the same, 1 head, 2 arms, 2 legs, etc.
As you read in the Genesis account, Noah's 3 son's were of one father and mother but 3 dominate races.
Intermarriage among the 3 races gives us the large variety we enjoy today.
Even in the animal kingdom we see variety among the same species, so why would Jehovah limit variety in the human race?
Although in mankind's imperfect state, we have those born with birth defects or cells don't divide and we end up with conjoined twins.
So we need to keep this in mind.
Jehovah will undo everything Satan has done in this system when his Son Jesus takes control over the earth soon.
Will you be there?

Whoever the first truly human ancestors were, their descendants got differentiated the same way all lifeforms get differentiated. Through genetic selection brought about by climate, topography, nutrition and random mutation. When you keep moving around the globe these things happen, doncha know?

As for the dude who poo-poos 6,000 years to get from 2 to 6 billion. Check the census reports pal. We went from 1 billion in 1850 to 6 billion in 1995. It's a little thing called geometric progression. And better living helped make it happen. You know, 1+1=2+2=4+4=8+8=16+16=32+32=64. well you get the picture, I hope.

Their descendants are all members of the same race, the human race. As to why descendants have different characteristics, it can be shown that if the parents have certain genes, the combination of those genes can produce quite varied offspring. For example twins that are one black and one white......

These changes could take place in one generation, although it is more likely that 'racially' diverse groups have become that way by the dominant genes tending to emphasize certain characteristics and a regional population.

There are dominant and recessive genes that produce the traits we have, including skin color.

If you have all dominant genes that determine skin color, then you have very dark skin.

If you have all recessive genes, then your skin is very light.

If you have some dominant and some recessive, then your skin tone is somewhere in the middle.

Now if Adam and Eve each had both dominant and recessive genes, then they would be a middle shade of color.

For this explanation, lets say that each person has 4 genes that determine skin color, two from each parent.

Lets identify the dominant genes with capital letters and the recessive genes with lower-case letters. Adam and Eve have genes we will call "A-genes" and "B-genes". Each child would get an "A" (or an "a") from each parent and a "B" (or a "b") from each parent.

Both Adam and Eve have genes AaBb. (A dominant and recessive of both A and B.) This makes them a middle brownish color.

Some of the children would get the dominant genes from both Adam and Eve. Those children would have an AABB make-up, causing them to have very dark skin.

Some would get recessive genes from both parents (aabb), so they would have very light skin.

Most of the children would get a mixture of dominant and recessive, middle color skin. (AaBb, AABb, AAbb, aaBB, AaBB, etc.)

If two people who only had dominant genes had children, then their children could only have only dominant genes, dark skin.

Now, when Adam and Eve had all of these children of these various colors, if those children started to group together with others who looked like themselves, then they would soon begin to have children that were a lot like their parents.

If some of these groups of like-colored people began to migrate to different regions, it would not be very many generations before established racial lines began to immerge.

rethink that using bible fiction. humanity was wiped out in the flood, so this question should read something like...

how did Noah's descendants become all the different races and in less than 4000 years populate a planet to 6 billion plus???

May be because the descendants moved to different regions on the earth , making generations of people isolated from those of other descendants , speaking special languages and due to environment having private aspects and habits ..

I hope you got the point !!!

By eating the right kind of shoots and leaves, like Jacob fed to sheep when he was working for Laban. Those turned speckled from their diet, and so Jacob got to keep those sheep. Same with people. Simply a matter of diet.

As to Ham, he only saw Noah's nakedness, cause the old man was drunk as a poet on payday, dancing naked on the lido deck.

TO jimmeisnerjr: The part about applying those rules today is correct as to stoning the child, but what about the dietary laws? Those still hold up pretty well today, and most meat plants follow those guidelines. Even today, no one eats horses. Pigs, yes, but it's much easier today to prevent trichinosis. Shellfish? Hey, now we're talking lobster. Yum!
And why is it thrice prohibited to boil a kid (baby goat) in it's mother's milk?

When God scattered people at the Tower of Bable, the were given new languages and went to different parts of the world. It is possible there was an entire race transformation for each new language. I guess it is also possible for people to develop different skin tones for whatever area of the world to where they moved. I'm not sure either theory (or any other) is confirmed by the Bible.

You have to do some real research. There are quite a few books out there that can help you along. Type in heritage and the bible and have fun. To the person who said Cain was Black you are incorrect you should probably do research with your blinders off.
