If an American turns their back to their country and defends illegal alien criminals - shouldn't we just charge them with treason, imprison them (so they can't vote), and/ ship them away?

Cosmo A - Great assumption-making there, buddy. I don't live in a trailer, have children or have been cans lying around.

Map - "In law, treason is the crime of disloyalty to one's nation. A person who betrays the nation of their citizenship and/or reneges on an oath of loyalty and in some way willfully cooperates with an enemy, is considered to be a traitor."

Therefore the United States Code at 18 U.S.C. § 2381 states "whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States."

Ricmon87 - I suggest you think before you make assumptions about someone you know nothing about. I'm more American than you, obviously. Get bent and stop lurking my questions, troll!

Those who hide out fugitive or criminal illegal aliens should be charged with obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting.
Those who hire them should be charged with aiding and abetting, tax crimes, etc.
Those who give them assistance should be charged with facilitation of crime.
Illegal aliens should be charged for any further crimes they have committed, including but not limited to identity theft, misappropriation of services, etc as well as violent crimes, penalized appropriately before deportation.

You are right on the money. The rights and freedoms of the citizens of the United States should not apply to ILLEGAL immigrants. If you are here legally, then you have every right to have your voice heard, if not, then your opinion should not matter. Why is it that people feel they can come into the country ILLEGALLY and expect the same rights and privilages that someone who is a legal citizen enjoys? The fact is that they should not. You can't be serious morinobr. To think that if those who are here illegally were not here that the economy would come to a grinding halt?!? Let's think about this. The false comment comes in where the line "they do the work that no one else wants to do." What garbage! (Apparently you have never seen the show "Dirty Jobs" with Mike Rowe on the Discovery channel. THOSE are the jobs no one wants to do!) They do that work because they are not skilled enough to do anything else. Before I get torched, I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE NOT INTELLIGENT!!! What I am saying is they refuse to learn or speak English, and do not have the education to get any other kind of job. Trust me, there would be PLENTY of people who would take their job given the opportunity. People will do whatever they have to in order to support a family. These illegal workers are already a huge burden on the economy, taking money away from those who are here legally and sending it home so more illegalls can come in. They demand health care and wlefare, yet they don't want to pay taxes or document their status. Pick a lane, you can't have it both ways. I have said this a hundred times, if you want to be here LEGALLY and learn the language, pay taxes, and become a productive and positive member of society, then we welcome you with open arms. If you want to come in here ILLEGALLY and think you deserve the same privileges and rights that a legal U.S. citizen enjoys, then go back to wherever you came from.

Treason is harsh as that is a capital offense that's punishable by the death penalty but they should definitely be charged with aiding and abetting. I agree with anitlifegrand though. I like the way you think! I also agree that the fines should be larger (and we can use the money for border patrol) and jail time should be considered. The only reason they are still here because the rich don't want to part with their cheap labor. If you stick it to 'em where it hurts the most (their pocketbooks) then maybe they'll think twice about hiring an illegal.

That's a little extreme. Some Americans have big hearts. That's what got us in this mess in the first place. And it also depends on how they go about supporting them. If they go to extremes and break the law then yes jail em.

I agree! The people that are housing, renting, and giving them jobs seriously need to be punished. Country Gal I really like how you think.
