Why do you feel it necessary to say such rude mean , things toward christians? Have you never heard, "my rights end where the other persons begins?"
You must feel very threatened or insecure in your own beliefs to make fun of ours so much. Or maybe you aren't so sure about what you believe in?
Someday I pray you will learn "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"
I had never been on yahoo answers before, and I didn't realize how critical and down right mean people are about Christians.
Sort of reminds me of reading about another time when people started talking about Jews & others and it wasn't long till we saw the holocaust.

You say christians dish it out all the time.
Now you are generalizing us. I can't answer for others, but for myself. I try not to be rude to anyone when I answer. I have never said christianity was perfect, only God.
I guess I just didn't realize how mean people could be. I don't consider making jokes about Christians or any other religion for that matter funny.
I must have took a wrong turn, I thought this was a place that wanted legitimate answers and I would be talking to intelligent people.

Did I put atheist anywhere in my post?
I was talking to people in general.
Oh and by the way to the person who said I didn't know much about Christianity. I have been a christian for 40 years. And I know we've done some pretty bad things in the name of religion.
But, that was them, not me

Welcome to R&S! Since you're new may I suggest 'ignoring'? If you don't you'll just get your knockers in a twist.

I don't feel very threatened or insecure, and I'm very sure about what I believe and, more importantly, *don't* believe in.
On the whole though, my answers in YA have been fairly evenly balanced between, on the one side, constructive criticism, and helpful advice and, on the other side, sarcasm.
Usually, my responses have depended greatly upon the calibre of the questions that have been asked. In other words, if the question is an incredibly stupid one, it deserves to be either lampooned or treated with contempt.
And if anyone dares append to their question "Christians only" or "Muslims only" or similar riders, then it's like a red rag to a bull. Atheists (at least, this one does) feel compelled to answer the question.
In regard to you not realising how critical and downright mean people are about Christians - I would have thought you would be used to it by now, unless you've led an extremely sheltered life.
I think it's rather a big leap of faith, though, to suggest that the good-natured banter which goes on between the different camps in YA R&S is in any way comparable to the lead-up to the horrors of the Final Solution. The major difference is that most Atheists don't hate Christians per se; however, they don't mind having a good laugh at their expense.
Update:
There are exceptions. I did say "most" Atheists. I didn't say "all" of them, did I? There are a few who do resort to nasty insults - and not just on the Atheist side either, I should point out.
You don't consider it good natured banter to make fun of God? Why not? You don't think he/she is mature enough to handle being made fun of? If he/she was really worried about it, he/she would have struck me down with a bolt of lightning many many years ago. It hasn't happened yet nor is it ever going to happen. Live with it!

Lady, you must come from an area of the country where it's just taken for granted that all things and all people are Christian. You think it's a personal affront for anyone to even consider the possibility of being anything but Christian. I can think of no other way to explain your bewilderment and naive attitude with regards to how atheists treat Christians and vice versa. If you stick around you will be rewarded with plenty of examples of what sort of Christian behavior has influenced some of the more immature and vindictive atheists out there.
The "do unto others" quote doesn't really serve you here. How do you know the mean-spirited atheists aren't doing unto others as they have been done unto?
The question of insecurity can cut both ways, but it's not valid to say that when one speaks confidently of his beliefs it's because he is insecure about them. If so, couldn't you say that every evangelist didn't really believe in Jesus?
Your Holocaust comment really shows how little you know of the history of Christianity and its treatment of non-believers.

Let's re-write this:
A question for people who aren christians?
Why do you feel it necessary to say such rude mean , things toward non christians? Have you never heard, "my rights end where the other persons begins?"
You must feel very threatened or insecure in your own beliefs to make fun of ours so much. Or maybe you aren't so sure about what you believe in?
Someday I pray you will learn "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"
I had never been on yahoo answers before, and I didn't realize how critical and down right mean Christians are about non Christians.
Sort of reminds me of reading about another time when people started talking about Jews & others and it wasn't long till we saw the holocaust.
It works both ways, more often from Christians, and the Atheists would never condemn you to hell.

The Holocaust was caused by a good, Christian man named Adolf Hitler, who was raised in the Catholic faith and believed he was doing the will of God. He believed the Jews were particularly evil for having put Jesus to death, and he saw himself as a righteous soldier of God, avenging his Lord and Savior. Don't believe me? Read "Mein Kampf."
And it wasn't atheists who caused the Inquisitions in the Middle Ages, was it now? No, that was CHRISTIANS putting to death anyone they believed was an infidel, including each other! It was Christians who turned the torture wheels and thumb screws, lit the flames under stakes to which women were tied, and operated the torture machines and acid vats. When was the last time a witch burned a Christian at the stake?
It is Christians who shout their hatred of gays, lesbians, feminists, and anyone else they think God detests; Christians who object to every single scientific advancement so they can hold society back; Christians who burn down abortion clinics and protest at the funerals of soldiers who died in Iraq; Christians who say that people deserve to die in hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters because they are evil; Christians who donate billions to the bank accounts of charlatans who live like kings while the poor go hungry.
Now, what were you saying about evil atheists?

I think you are missing the point. Beliefs are not equivalent to truths. Humanity has been struggling for centuries to overcome the negative influences of unsubstsntiated belief. We are finally able to see that false belief is the root cause of much of the evil in this world. For centuries religion has been above criticism because it confined itself strictly to issues of faith. Now ignorant fundamentalists work constantly to undermine science education in America. Christian superstitions regarding reproduction have been forced into the law to prevent stem cell research. Christians who are vile traitors to the human species publically proclaim their eagerness for Armageddon and the destruction of human civilization.
...and you wonder why people react negatively toward those who seek to drag us back into the Dark Ages? Can you even imagine that there are people who consider belief, any kind of belief, fundamentally evil, simply because belief always amounts to an irrational denial of truth? The scientific revolution began 400 years ago, but has become a social force only recently. Times are changing. Religion is dead and is beginning to stink of decay. People look forward to a world of rational choices, made possible by a rejection of irrational faith. Scientific truth is the only way humanity can save itself from the errors of our religious past -- assuming the faithful can be prevented from achieving their goal of destroying us all.

You really must be new here.
Many "christians" on Y!A like to threaten people with "hell", and refuse to answer tough questions.
What goes around, comes around... you have justed walked into the middle. This is what is internet is like in ANY forum, not just R&S, it's just a bit more noticeable here.
Grow a thick skin, you'll need it.
On the other hand, it can be a rather fun bunch... once you get to 'know' them a bit.

Wow, now who's generalizing? I'm not Christian, and I don't think I've said anything mean towards Christians. But then again, I'm Jewish.
BTW--you might want to reassess the comparison between the levels of anti-semitism pre-WWII and what you've seen in this forum.

So you'll be back to feed your persecution complex then?
The Christians give back plenty, lady. If it's not here on Y!A, it's out in the real world trying to dictate our lives to us. And how is my being a jackass infringing on anyone's rights? If you don't like it, turn off your computer and go watch "The Sound of Music".

If you're new - welcome.
But you're going to find it works both ways here. There are horrible people on both sides of the fence. Just as there are many reasonable people on both sides too.
You wouldn't believe the amount of e-mails I get telling me that I'm going to hell for merely stating my own beliefs.
