My dog loves to roll in fox poo - I go out every morning and try to clean it all up but he still manages to find it in the undergrowth etc...is there anything I can put down to deter the fox without affecting my dog? Someone suggested vinegar??

Sorry but the answer is no on that one. Dogs and Foxes are very similar especially when it comes their sense of smell. So what will deter a fox will also deter your dog. However, what you can do seeing Foxes are nocturnal animals, get some lights that are triggered through a motion detector. When the motion dector picks up movement the lights come on scaring off the Fox or whatever animal crosses its path. Seeing your dog is probably not out at night it wont effect him/her. The lights are not as expensive as you think. Check out a local hardware or even a Home Depot for one or check out www.x10.com. They have Motion Detector Flood lights for about $50. Sometimes the dog itself can be the deterrent. Why not let the dog out in the garden later at night and earlier in the morning. Foxes are not stupid and will avoid confrontation. Oh and to be clear I am not advocating setting your dog on an unsuspecting fox.

I found a product at PetSmart Pet Supply store that worked for me. It is called "Repel" dog and cat repellent. It helps to keep them from marking their territory. It has a strong smell. Good Luck!
