I suppose the Christian way of taking spontaneous combustion is that its the work of God because we cant expalin it. God sure is merciful.

He ain't merciful when your body is burning alive and your skin is dripping off you like candle wax. That's like saying the Romans were merciful letting you get fresh air when they were crucifying you.

With advance in human knowledge.the sphere of influence of God has been shrinking.For this,it's not God who has to be belittled but the Humans.They created some thing,which worked for as long as it did and now when it has become fault prone,we blame each other rather on the collective wisdom of humanity and go about to find a solution or an alternative.Yes,in the image of God as we created Him,He is merciful and much more.Now,please CEASE FIRE.
