Be glad he gave his opinion now - respect him for this. Did you ask him to explain further why he won't just go out with you as friends? Don't be too crushed with his decision - remain his friend if his friendship mean a lot to you. If you are ready for a b/f g/f relationship find someone who is ready to get into one.

You either accept that it's a friends-only thing, or you move on completely and decide you don't want any relationship with him if you can't have it the way you want it.

Some people have a hard time being platonic friends with someone they like in a more romantic way...you've got to decide what you can handle, but accept that it'll be nothing other than platonic friends.

If you truly love him, you would respect his decision to stay as friends. I would advise you not to ask further questions why you're friend isn't interested to seeking a relationship. If you do, brace yourself for some possible drama or disconnection in the friendship temporarily or permanently .

Stay best friends, don't push it.

You are likely to stay closer to him longer than as a gf.

Ouch. You know what I would do is go out with another guy and make him jealous. Because you always want what you can't have right?

Leave him be. He already knows he just wants you as a friend. You can't change him.
