Your marketing degree is very valuable in the field of ecology. You can get a job with an agency that is working to save the planet. You can do PR, advertising, and marketing for them or you can freelance. You don't have to market material things; you can market concepts, like conservation, recycling, new farming ideas, etc. Make a list of your skills and then check for jobs in the field. There's Monster.com, Craig's list.com and a whole group of online companies for job seekers.

Ok, so maybe you should look into what one of my nieces got into. Her degree is in Travel & Tourism, including a work-study semester at DisneyWorld.

She ended up in corporate travel sales for a major company and even won several prizes for sales, including a flight to Paris on the Concorde while that was still flyng.

Look into eco-tourism and travel. You should be able to market that in this day and age and even get to go along on some of the tours. I don't know the requirements for starting a travel bureau, but could probably find them.

I have recently applied for a position as a coordinator for a new rails-to-trails project that would have me basically marketing the whole trail, swamps and all, so I know there is a demand.

well, my job is internet marketing and I don't have a marketing degree so you confuse me a little. I mean, what keeps you from doing some marketing with your computer since you have a degree for it??
I definitely don't suggest you go back to school.
Also, you don't have to force people to buy insurance since everyone and his dog nowadays needs insurance.
Perhaps just be a hairdresser like your sister if you like it, or
just take a career aptitude test like this http://www.job--listings.info/free-aptitude-test.htm
and see what they come out with, it's free.. then you'll know what suits your personality.
Good luck

I feel your pain. Perhaps you might take a career survey on line. (Google career survey) They will show you what you are suited to, then look for jobs in that Field that appeal to you.

OR... you can go to Napoleon Hill's Web site and learn about creating a better "MIND SET" to your chosen field. If you do this your sales ability will increase and you will love what you do.

For example...you say you do not want to force people to buy something they do not want.

Try thinking...I am educating people in preparation for the future or I am helping people make better decisions about their goals.... this helped me a lot and I LOVE MY CAREER in commercial and business loan solutions!

If all else fails, email me and we can chat about it?

Have a great and successful day!

Most cities have programs to help the environment. Look into working there.
