I am just thinking that we all come from the 'same' creator or entity.
We all arrive here throught the same vehicle, not so much the definition of the creator through the eyes of many different religions just that we are all on this boat together.

Yes, same god, but still non-existent.

Santa is same for everyone.

If you are right, than that God is exceptionally bad at getting its message across. The different relgions are very firm on what they believe they have been told by their god is how the universe works and how that/those god(s) wish(es) to be worshipped.

Tenets of Christianity, Hindu, Islam, or Norse religions are wildly different, and often flatly deny that the others are accurate. Often, within each of these groups are wide divisions (Sunni/Shiite or Catholic/Protestant) that deny that the other has understoof thier god's will correctly. You can't accept the tenets of one without implictly denying the tenets of the others. It's not like Zeus made the world from the corpse of his father, then God cast Adam and Eve from the garden, where Coyote brought them fire and they lived until Shiva destroyed creation.

If all of these people are worshipping the same god, that god is a cruel and vicisous being who would rather let each group kill each other over which interpretation is correct than to correct them once and for all.

The analogy of god as a parent is often used, but if you extend the analogy to the idea that all religions worship the same god under different names, you see that its like a parent in bed who tells their multiple children to bring them breakfast. The children fight over what to make for breakfast, but the parent won't tell them. Some of the children kill each other over what to make. Still the parent doesn't interceed. Eventually, the strongest children (or groups of children) present their multiple breakfasts to the parent. Each child convinved that those who did it wrong are going to spend eternity being punished. If it is indeed the same parent (god) that all these children are fighting over, the actions of this being do not make them worthy of respect, much less worship.

I would approach the subject on a bit of a logic stream.

If religions have a basis of belief, then what is the source they prescribe to? Would those religions, whichever one's are being discussed, have supporting to the theory; that the same God and His requirements for the followers match?

After having studied Christianity mainly for over 20 years, I would say that Christianity denies such a theory from being true. Jesus is the main figure in Christianity, and He said that any who believe in Him are saved, and that anyone going any other way are as thieves and robbers. He placed all religious importance upon Himself.

I have done a report on Zoroastrianism, and it does not place Jesus as being anything. It claims that you must believe in Ahura Mazda, or at the end of time it will be impossible to cross the bridge to Paradise. Instead, you will fall into Hell.

So there are at least two that do not support the other, IF the sources are correct.

I think you probably just need to delve a little deeper into the question. If a personal God exists, then he (for lack of a better pronoun) has certain characteristics that distinguish him from something else.

The gods of all other religions have different characteristics than the Christian God -- some dramatically different characteristics. From your avatar, I can deduce that you are a female, but if I were talking to your friends about you and describing someone with decidedly male characteristics, there's no way they would deduce that it was you I was describing. You are nothing like that.

So, in short, I don't think all the gods that are worshiped can be brought back to a singular god with many different names. Names we can interchange, but character we can't.

I do believe that God is called many different names by different religions. I don't see why not. In fact it seems to me that it makes a lot of sense. I thought the same as you, and have said as much, before reading your ?. I call Him the God of many names. That seems to be the easiest way to say it. I also think that God is our Mother/Father God of many names. How's that for a label. Do you think it could be any longer? (smile)
Blessed Be

No, God is not the god of all religions.
You may want to do some research on the different religions to understand this.
Christians believe in one Loving Truine God. (One God in three persons, Father Son and Holy Ghost.)

Jehovah Witnesses believe in God but discount Jesus as only a "good teacher", and they discount the Holy Spirit as something no more than electricity.

Muslims believe in Allah, who is an angry God of war and sets up his heaven with seven virgins for each good Muslim who dies.

Hindus believe in a greater power, but no heaven. They believe in reincarnation.

The Mormon church God is three separate God's not one truine God....

Wiccans believe that there is no God in the male sense, but rather the higher power as a goddess...

God can not be all these gods to all these people.
God is not here for us, we are here for Him. He is who he is and I would trust the writers of the Old and New testaments who experienced God's presence, before I would trust any other interpretations of Him several hundred years after the fact.
. They (Old and New testament writers) (even historically) would be the most accurate considering it is the oldest set of writings known to mankind.

I share your wonder. I believe that amazing things happen in this world, but I hesitate to put an exact name to the power that is behind them. I think about that all the time.

My opinion is that is not.Not all religions worship the same one and only God.They all have alot of different God's, it all depends on what religion you practice but there is only one true God,Jahova.

It's what YOU believe, we can't tell you if it's wrong. I think if they're are Gods then that makes sense in some ways.
