You don't have to, but I'm sure your dentist will tell you that you should. It doesn't give you better results, but it does help with gum irritation. If your gums are inflamed because you have plaque and tartar build-up in and around them the peroxide in teeth-whitening products will burn very badly. So I suppose you could get away with not having a cleaning if your teeth and gums are in good shape, but it's still better to get your teeth cleaned first.

Yes, it is always a good plan to start with a good foundation before you try to paint the exterior. Seriously though if you get your teeth cleaned before whitening your teeth you will get a better result.

I think a teeth cleaning would be GREAT...I mean you would want to put whitening over buttery teeth. It would be like putting junk on top of junk

100% yes!! You first need to remove the surface stains and the whithening will remove the stains deep in the teeth.
