It does depend on the size of your house and the temperament of your animals. Right now I have 3 dogs, 2 are small and 2 cats of my own with 2 foster cats. All is fine but I think if I brought one more in before a foster leaves my older animals might start packing. I really do think it is a fine what is too many. When you do they will let you know, cats might stop using the litter box, dogs potty in the house, chew or dig. I also think it depends on the time you have to spend with each one and a puppy takes so much time. Give it a try, see if wherever you get the puppy will let you have it on a trial basis, not too long maybe a week to see what happens. I know some do here, even the shelter gives you 30 days. Hope all works out for you.

That is totally up to you if you think you have the room and the time and energy to spend with each of these animals plus a puppy then I would say go for it. Do keep in mind that the puppy will need to be taught how to act around the cats and it will also need to be a breed and sex that will get along well with your other dog. Some breeds of dogs like Chihuahuas only prefer to be with dogs of the same breed. If you have a male dog that is neuterd I suggest getting another male or even a female as long as she is going to be spayed. If you have a female get a male 2 femals together isnt the best match. I have 3 male dogs and 5 cats which is down from 4 dogs and 6 cats, but I live in a large house with a big backyard and we always have the time to spend with our pets.

all my life i've always had either 3 dogs and 2 cats or 2 dogs and 3 cats, which is what i have now. It's too many animals ony if you cant handle it or if the City or County has ordinances against it. They all get along very well and play together all the time. i think a little puppy friend for your dog would be fine. Except if there are 2 females, they tend to fight, at least mine always did.

It depends on the size of the house and the size of the dogs. A small apartment with no yard? I would say yes it is too many. An average or larger home with fenced back yard, I would say no it's not too many. The very most important thing to remember, is can you afford all of these animals. I have 2 dogs, and they cost me a LOT of money. Make sure you have money stashed away for a pet emergency, for spaying neutering, etc. I cannot stress enough the importance of properly caring for ones pets. Five animals could really get costly, so think it over carefully, and good luck.

NO as long as they get along. I've had 4 cats that all got along. When my oldest one died years ago, one of my other cats that was attached to him changed in personality and became really aggressive towards the other cats. I now have 5 and a household of stressed out cats, which is a big mess. So make sure they all get along ok, then you should be fine adding another member. IF they aren't getting along, try fixing the problem, then adding the new puppy. But no, that's not too many animals.

Yes. They will not get the personal attention they need. I have 4 cats and 2 dogs. The cats I really didn't want but when they show up on your doorstep or someone is going to dump them, etc. what do you do? They do have the good life but I feel bad that they don't get the attention that they want and deserve.
My dogs I wanted, both are well behaved and housebroken and small so they are not a problem.
You should be able to take care of all of them financially too. That is a biggie. I just spent $900.00 on vet bills for one of my cats only to find out that his vital organs were cancerous and there was nothing they could do about it.

That depends - can you afford the proper care for these animals?? Are you able to give them all equal love and attention??
I have 4 dogs and 4 cockatiels in my home. All of my dogs are on Nutro (dog food), they get their yearly vet checks, treats, and if there is ever any sickness I can afford to take them to the vet. I also give them all equal love and attention.
My birds are the same way, I purchase some of the best bird food, they are given treats, and they have their yearly vet checks.
In my opinion, no, that is not too many animals. Just try to remember to give them as much love as they give you - if not more. Good Luck!!!! And try to adopt a homeless puppy. Everytime you purchase an animal from a breeder another homeless pet dies.

If it works for you, your existing pets, and the rest of your family and your home is big enough, then it's OK. I love my animals but do have a limit because I want to be sure my existing pets get all the attention they need. I have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 3 fish, but there's just my husband and me as the human population and I want to make sure everybody (husband included!) gets what they need in terms of attention. Cost of course is an issue too.

it depends how big ur house is. also it depends on how reasponsible u r. also if u do get a puppy then make sure it gets along with ur dog and that it get along with ur cats also. some puppies hate cats so just make sure they all get along.
if u r responsible and ur house is big enough to hve anothr puppy then 3 cats and 2 dogs is not to many pets in the house.
