I see where you're coming from. I tend to be more free going with non-believers cause I was there for a long time. While we are supposed to love each other and love everyone else as Jesus did . . it's not always easy when we don't see the logic in not following a loving, merciful Lord.

They take it seriously for they put their faith on thin ice by believing the Bible is absolute truth. Scripture is a testimonial, and limited to the perspective of the writer. Some go so far as to elevate the Bible to being the "Word of God." Because they have put their faith in this lie they are threatened by science that says we've earned our place on earth through a three billion year process of evolution. They reason that God must exist because look how perfect the world is, we can eat fruit, breath the air and drink water. The truth is those that can't live in the environment die and those that can reproduce. It is small wonder we seem perfectly fit for our environment. These serious Christians are correct to be concerned because they have based their faith on a carnal document thinking it infallible.
Doomed is the flesh that depends on the soul; doomed is the soul that depends on the flesh.
Their faith is based on ego and salvation is based on the spirit of God. The ego has to die for the spirit to be born so they gather in groups and protest governments raising the value of earthly, therefore worthless, things in a pitiful attempt to make their belief worthy of consideration.
We are to in the world but not of it. Nothing matters here so long as we love and seek God. Your question isn't about Christians even if they call themselves that. Your question is to politicians that think they serve God. God could care less about their politics.

well, I have to say it depends on what you are joking about. Sure God wants us to have fun, I am sure God gets a good laugh at some of the things that we do, but the reason I said, it depends on what you are joking about, is because of your comment, you don't think God would care if you loosen up a bit? Are you telling a dirty joke? Or something that would be border line obscene? Really we don't have enough information to answer this question properly.

xzc426 it is so NOT against our religion to have fun. unless fun for you is drugs, getting filthy drunk, having uncontrollable sex etc. then yeah it is against our religion.
the Christian religion is actually very strict and there are many people who don't find it possible to loosen up. there are some very uptight and narrowminded ideas, that even though i am an Orthodox Christian, i disagree with it. there are faithful people who go to the point of fanatism and are blinded by their learning. i don't think God or Jesus would mind if we loosened up a little but it depends what loosening up means...... it would be better if we all took our religion a little more seriously though...... i'm not talking about putting on blinkers and going about calling everything sinful but a little more respect might be ok.

True. But time is very short. I have seen in the Bible where Jesus wept, but I don't see where Jesus laughed. I am not saying not to have a good time, but I believe people were "partying" when the flood came. Jesus will come as a thief in the night, so we need to be ready and keep looking up.

Yea well i know i dont have to be drinking, sleeping around, or doing drugs to have fun. I can have fun in a way thats not sinful, if thats what you mean. If you need those things to have fun, than its kinda sad that you cant just go out and have fun in a way thats not bad.

I have fun, but getting drunk, being promiscuous, etc. is not acceptable. Ones view of fun changes when you come to see God. Something as simple as baking cookies, or going to the movies is just as fun as many people think getting drunk is.

Quit being so ignorant. It's not just in Christianity, there are all sorts of religions that have people who tend to take it a little overboard. In some for instance they'll commit suicide for it! I think that's insane. Especially when you don't know what to expect.

Just look at the jokes he played on Job. If you believe in all that creation stuff, consider that a god without a sense of humor would never have created the platypus. Or male nipples. And why would he give us the power to fart if not to make fart jokes.

What's funny is that they think god supports them on their "your going to hell for not believing in jesus" statements. They must be really brainless to think something so stupid and narrow-minded as if god is some fool. What christians like to do is use common sense when it suits them and assume god supports them on their wild statements.
