Over the course of history, 90% of all religions have disappeared and become non existent, except for being ridiculed by modern man.
After all this time, what makes one sure that their religion is the correct one?
And since most of us neer chose our religion for ourselves, parents choose at birth, how can I know that b/c of my birthplace I am not part of the wrong religion?

Steve: If you think that Christianity is the world's oldest religion, you are WAAAAYYY off. Christianity didn't evolve from Judaism untill after 30 AD.
Which is another major problem I have with christianity. If God dealt directly with Adam and Eve, then why did they forget about him for over 2000 years.

You can be sure of that. If, because of your birthplace or for any other reason you are part of a religion, it is the wrong religion.
There is no ultimate answer to life, the universe, and everything (except, possibly, 42). Religions promise something in the future, generally after you are dead, so there is no chance to determine if their promises have been fulfilled for previous believers.
The other claim religions make, that they offer an ethical anchor in an evil world, is also bogus. The core ethics that most religions teach are the ones a good person would live by even if religion didn't exist. They predate religions and define how you interact with your tribe.

You have no answers only more questions you lie and broken the commandments of God now what?
However I have the same problem as you. I believe God Talked to Adam and Eve and Their Children and on and on.
why does man find it so easy to forget Him. How can man possibly see himself as a greater creation than the creator. Why can't kids just do as the parents and elders say instead of trying to change things up and make them modern. I mean of course the kids back then not now. If they hadn't done as every generation after them has we would not have needed Jesus.
but after all that's just some more Christian brainwashing and not worthy of the attention you give your tire pressure right. I think you may be right about being in the wrong religion too.

I think we run the gamut when it comes to our beliefs. Because I believe in reincarnation, I believe that one person will believe in many different religions in the course of their lives. Karma only happens in reincarnation, so with this going on why wouldn't we choose the religion that feels the most helpful in this life? I used to be a full force born again Christian, and I do not feel that way now. I used to be a Bible thumper and I am not now. My beliefs no longer fit any religion. People believe what they need to in order to live in this world. Why worry about it. They are on their own path. If their relationship with God is alive, it will change and grow. It has to if it is a living relationship. Follow your heart, and try to listen to your soul. You will find exactly where you belong at exactly the right time. God may not be on our time, but He is always on time.

I don't believe that any "religion" is the correct one. I believe that we are each given our own truth to live by. And to those that believe that Christianity or Islam or Judaism are the oldest religions, you should think again. Man kind has been practicing various forms of nature based religions (what most call paganism) for much longer. All of these practices have an element of truth to them. It is up to you to sort out the truth that is right for you. But, what I think they all have in common is to treat others (including all of god's creation) with love and kindness. That is what I believe to be the "correct religion"

We should start with "Truth is absolute".
Even if one says "All truth is relative", that statement is a truth statement, and is therefore self-refuting.
Then we have to recognize that most religions that accept absolute truth state that they are the exclusive means to truth.
Based on countless witnesses to miracles, and fulfilled prophecy, I would suggest that Jesus Christ (Messiah) is the answer.
Why would Abraham be asked to sacrifice his son Isaac, by a holy God? The answer lies in 2 things: That God was able to resurrect the boy, and that God had a plan to do the same for humanity:
He came on this Earth as both a sheep-like sacrifice and as God-man to shed his blood as an atonement for sins of the world.

When I was a child I thought like a child, but when I became a man I put away childish things. Yes, my parents determined my religion when I was a child, but when I grew up I began making choices for myself, one of which was what I believe about God and what I'm going to do about it. Christianity is the oldest religion in recorded history, beginning with God and Adam and Eve in the Garden and continuing on to this very day. It will be the last religion left in the world when the New Heaven and New Earth are revealed. If I'm investing money I invest in things that have stood the test of time and have a bright, promising future. Why would I invest my soul in anything less than what I'd risk my money on?

90% of all religions did not disappear, they were hunted down and destroyed by the roman church. modern man doesn't ridicule these religions, christians from all ages do. i'm not saying that all pagan religions thru-out history were valid, but many of them came from a genuine effort to understand the universe. great pagan scholars and philosophers were cruelly tortured and killed, and great libraries were burned to consolidate the power of the church.
you can know that you are part of the wrong religion if you don't believe in it. if you have not sought for your own path, then you can't know.

Don't knock religion. It's great if you have to justify killing people who are different than you. And oppressing thought. It's really useful if you're in a position of power.
To Steve: A hint: you're wrong. http://ask.yahoo.com/20011106.html
Since I'm sure you hate to read, the important part:
"Oddly enough, the two religions that dominate the world today are relative newcomers to the spiritual scene. Christianity began with the teachings of Jesus Christ around 30 C.E., and Islam started in 610 C.E. with the prophet Muhammad's revelation."
You lose. Thanks for playing.

Hi and good morning...Very interesting question for thought. I have my thoughts and views on this issue. I agree with you on a certain level however I was born into the Methodist faith and attended the Methodist church for several years while growing up and living with my parents. When I had reached the age of uncertainity to where I was pondering if this was the correct religion for me or not, I explored other religions. I had visited a Baptist Church, a Catholic Church a Luthern Church, visited a Jewish Church and so forth. In my conclusion, all of them except for a few basically taught the same thing about the Bible. Now what I also witnessed is that these so called Christians that went to church asked for God's Forgiveness for a sin that they had committed. What dumb founded me was that no sooner these individuals left the church they turned back around and committed the same sin that they had just asked God to forgive them for. Didn't make sense to me. Then I couldn't understand why some of these Churches asked for 20% of your income for offering. Now to me this was a joke since the Bible never stated anywhere that one has to give 20% of their total income, so who was getting over whom? Religions these days to me are totally defying God's words and twisting what God and others had written to make it benefit for themselves instead of teaching God's words. So I decided since I couldn't actually tell who was lying or a false prophet, i decided to become a Spiritualist instead. This way I can believe in my God in my own way. Jesus had written and had said 'That as long as you believeth in me in your heart and mind and soul that one didn't need a building to worship me'.So after reading this I decided to believe in Him and my Father in my own way and in my own home. I don't need a certain religion as long as I have both my Father and Jesus in my heart. My heart is my temple. Have a blessed day!

Well, the oldest known religion on earth today I believe is Buddhism. I'm not sure what religions have become non existent. Particular sects within major religions may come and go, but the main religion continues. As far as whether yours is right or not, at some point we all come to question our parents' religion, so how you answer those questions will determine whether it is the right religion for you or not.
