If you've ever watched Animal Planet, and seen the SPCA "cops" catch/kennel cats, you've seen how they do it. Get your kennel......turn it up on end, with the door open. Then get your cat (cuddle if necessary to calm her), then with one hand under the door of the kennel, and the other on the nape of her neck, set/drop her...hind legs first...down into the kennel ...keeping your hand on her neck, and close the door before turning her neck loose. The last thing out of the ALMOST SHUT door should be your hand! If that doesn't work, or you can't manage by yourself, get someone else to hold either the door or the cat. It just has to be QUICK!!! Good luck...hope this helps!

My 13 year old tabby use to freak out about his kennel. Then I leaned that boiled chicken or bologna did the trick. I just speak gently to him and give him little pieces but put the rest in the back of the kennel and he will go in. Now at first he associated the kennel with going on a trip so I had to start treating him gently and not pick up the kennel when he went in, just leave it on the floor and have him get use to the idea that going into the kennel meant a treat not the bad old vet. You will have to remember to do this once a day for at least several weeks to uncondition him or her, but it is so worth it in the end.

The one that I have found the best for me is taking the carrier and turning it so that the opening is on the very top. If your carrier is anything like mine it is a bit wobbly like this do to the edge along the sides. I usually lean it against the wall in a corner to give it more balance. When you go to put your kitty inside it is a lot easier as the kitty doesn't see it's legs going into it until you are about at waist level. When the kitty is all the way in she/he will actually be at the very back. This makes it difficult to escape because there isn't enough room for kitty to jump up that high from such a small space inside. Once you fasten the door quickly you can then gently turn the carrier back to the original position it should be in. Voila - kitty all set to go on the road trip.

Kennel in a small room where she can't escape. Wear thick, heavy long-sleeved clothing and very heavy leather gloves. Put the kennel on end and lower the cat in feet first. This may be a two-person job. If you know a few days ahead, trimming claws is a good idea. Good luck - this is a dangerous job.

HA HA HA HAAA! I used to try to do that for four on going to the vet day! Try getting a soft sided cat carrier instead. You can get them at wal-mart or places like that. Then all you have to do is open the top, hold kitty by the scruff, stuff in, and while still holding on to kitty close zipper as much as possible (just enough room to get hand out), remove hand and finish closing zipper. Much easier on you and kitty because you lose most of the fighting. Put an old towel down inside as well, gives kitty something to hang on to.
Good luck....

Well I was going to say use a blanket... try coaxing her in with cat treats. She is terrified of the kennel so you need to teach her to relax and that its ok. Trying to force her in is going to make her more stressed. There are de-stressing items that you can purchase at pet stores. Try checking into those.

LOL--I had a 16 lb Maine Coon. She hated going into a kennel for trips to the vet. So I would have to put her in backwards and do it really fast. When I would try to be gentle head first, she would fight like crazy.
It is not easy to get a 16 lb cat to do what you want them to do :)
Another trick is to wrap them lightly in a towel and put them in the kennel like that. They will unwrap themselves. They will be miffed, but at least you won't have war wounds. Just be gentle so you don't hurt them.

Easiest way is by tipping the carrier up on one end with the door side up. Then put her in back feet first, (sometimes you have to hold their back feet together). Then just close the door and lower it slowly back down.
