If the sentence, or rather, lack of sentence has nothing to do with his religion, then why did they feel they had to mention he was a Jehovah's Witness in the first place. In other news reports, they claim he is a "changed man" due to his religion.

So if his faith is enough to let him off doing jail time, then what about those of other faiths, i.e Catholics associated with the IRA, Muslims associated with terrorism and so on, shouldn't they all be spared jail since they all have faith??

Come on, where's the justice or sense in that??

Even if he wasn't spared a sentence due to his religion, it doesn't change that fact that JW's protect child molesters. They are disgusting.

You and others need to really read and get the facts straight. It is unfortunate that the judge would give such a lenient sentence to such a sexual abuser. This man needs to be locked in general public. I wonder how long he will there when the word gets out what he has done and is. Also, to report that the man was a Jehovah Witness is just fodder for those to make claims that all JWs are perverts, just as some of the sexual abuses committed by Catholic priests have done now. Pathetic losers will use blanket statements in referring them as pedophiles.

There have been many instances that pedophiles do not get cured by therapy and counseling. I feel sorry for the victims. I do believe in forgiveness. I also believe that perpetrators of criminal activity still need to be punished. Even if the criminal confesses to the crime.

I have no idea what was going though that Judges head, but I don't think it was because of his religion:

>>>
The judge opted not to jail Porter after hearing he had undergone therapy and was a changed man.

Anyway, he is not out of the woods yet:

Hopefully this will go though and a more appropriate sentance passed.

You obviously didn't read the article. That ISN'T why he got no sentence. The judge opted not to jail Porter after hearing he had undergone therapy and was a changed man. It sounds like typical liberal justice to me.

That's disgusting.
It does say, though, that the judge let him walk because he was in therapy...the families, many of whom are also JWs are not happy, nor is his sister.
Still, it is disgusting.
It does reflect badly on the Jehovah's Witnesses...but then, we can hardly blame an entire group because there are a$$holes calling themselves by the group's name...
And the kicker?
He walked out of the courtroom with his wife.
Some damn fool woman actually went to court with this jerk...and walked out with him as if nothing had happened...

As a Christian, I am sickened by this report...

Britain is falling into a moral wasteland. I agree with this quote in the story...

"If we're to reassure parents and send out a strong deterrent message to pedophiles, then those convicted should face prison sentences that both punish and deter others."

"The judge opted not to jail Porter after hearing he had undergone therapy and was a changed man."

I didn't see anywhere where it says that he got off because he's a JW. It just says he is a JW.

NO WHERE did I read it say he was spared because he was a Witness. The fact that he was, at one time, a Witness was mentioned, though clearly his actions betrayed what was in his heart. Supposedly the judge let him go because he was in some sort of counseling. Sorry if you were misinformed.

Hopefully that decision will be appealed and reversed. It's crazy what some people get away with.
