Depends on the style of the home and what purpose the room is used for. I wouldn't personally do an arch in a bedroom and remove the door, or an arch in a super contemporary home, for instance...but it's all about personal taste until you need to sell the home. (:

Are yew going to hang a suspending bead curtain in the arch like you find in greasy spoon cafes .. ?

arches are fine ..i fit them all the time ..but don't do a semicircular arch ..they make the room seem smaller

Great idea, i have one from my bedroom to the dressing room...makes the space flow.
