Well usually the court houses have public computers that you could use to look in your states Judical Informations Network and find the person's name and what they were or are currently being charged for. Ask your city's court house for more info if needed. You can also call the jail but sometimes unless you're working for an attorney's office or other important office as such, then they usually put you on hold forever or take a long time to give you the info you need. Now I live in Oregon so not to sure if this is also how it's done in New York. Hope this helps

look on idocket, it will tell you everything that has been filed in that case. you will have to go to a different search site for the physical address of the person though. It will probally want a subscription. Nothing is free.

If you know the jail they're in, you can contact that jail, and they can give you information on how you can contact an inmate there.
