My 1st female cat became pregnet, she had 3 kittens, twin girls and a boy. What a good mother she was, being my 1st time with the whole expirience I became so attached as I watched them grow and how mom would talk to and treat each one in her own special way. Of the twins, she favored the smallest. She loved her babies. As they grew to be 6 wks. I noticed she had certain "calls" for each kitten, I watched her teach them her own little ways like how to drink out of faucets or beg when the fridge opens. She even brought home her hunts to show her babies.Last wk. a friend came by to pick up one of the twins. Mom paniced when he left. calling and searching aimlessly for her baby. I had to call and tell him he had moms baby and to return her for the other twin.It was so sad to see mom panic. Poorkittys what do they think? Their world as they knew it no longer exists,so scared thinking of what was, and watching mom wonder and search calling out to them but theyre gone! It Broke my heart

I promise to get her fixed! I cant go thru the pain and sadness of wondering how the kittens are doing, what they`r thinking, are they ok? I prey they dont miss what they only knew here. And as for mom/ she still looks for them I cry everyday worried for her thoughts knowing she misses the "special"twin so terribly bad.Thats the one she calls out for the most. How long does this last? To anyone out there that has a female, please get her fixed so I dont have to worry about kittens being seperated from their moms. Its sad beyond belief I guess you had to be there to see the bond i saw.....and please for godsake dont abandon them somewhere hoping someone will find and keep them. Poor things consider the feelings and how scared they are. and belive me the mom feels their pain! Post them on Craigs list. It`s free, I did it and the last two went with-in 4 hours! I`m still getting calls. and mom kitty and i? we still have tears!

You're a kind-hearted person, bless you.

Your cat was frantically calling and searching for the kitten you gave away when he was six weeks old because she knew he still needed her at that age.

As you also said, the poor six-week-old kitten must have been frightened and bewildered. One day he was with his mother and littermates, and the next he was in a strange place all alone. Look how many people post in this answers group about getting a kitten and finding it cries all the time.

When her kittens are about three months old she will wean them and be willing to separate from them. In fact she may seem to start to dislike them and avoid them. It's a natural phase. She instinctively wants the kittens to go off on their own and stop being dependent on her....so she can get pregnant again, which is something a responsible owner will prevent.

If you want to find new homes for her kittens, that is the age at which to do it with the least trauma to the mother. If you keep one or more of the kittens, she will give it the cold shoulder for a while, then adapt to the idea that it is not going to leave, and they will probably become friends and companions.

I know how you feel. I raised Siamese/Himalayan kittens for years, and the VERY HARDEST part of the whole thing was....watching/listening to MOM searching for her kittens. If they left, one at a time, she didn't seem too sad, but if I sold all of them quickly, it took a few days for her to get over it. I'm not doing that anymore.......I have 14 cats, all spayed/neutered, now. Your Mama will be fine.....just love on her a lot, and get her spayed within a month, or she'll go into heat again, and be frantic to get pregnant again.....then you'll have to go through this again!! Good luck.......

She may not be ready for them to leave. If you are giving them away you may want to wait a little longer and see if she can cope. How old are the kittens? That would be hard to watch. How many are you keeping?

that's so sad! Is it possible for you to get a "friend" for the mother cat? I've owned more than one cat at a time in the past, and they really kept each other company.
