It started with a toothache. The dentist drilled and filled and put a temporary crown on my back lower two molar teeth. Two days later my second to last tooth became abcessed. I had a root canal on Tuesday. Since then I still have some swelling, and feels like my right side of my face is numb. Also, I still have an achy feeling there and there is like bubbles along the gum line still. I will tell you that the last molar (the one that I didn't get the root canal on) the crown fell off and the air hit it and it was like someone shocked me. the pain was so bad I cried (and let me tell you, I just had natural childbirth 6 weeks ago and I didn't cry on that). What does this sound like and is it normal? There's not much antibiotics I could take since I am breast feeding. But they gave me a z pack to clear up the infection before my root canal

Teeth are weird. I had a similar experience and my dentist told me that the nerve that goes along under several teeth had been damaged or was dying, so I got into a cycle of one abscessed tooth after another. God it was painful. The pain you experienced when the air hit the inside of your tooth is because the nerve is still partially alive. If it were removed (as happens in a root canal) you wouldn't feel pain. The fact that you were recently pregnant could explain some of this because teeth are often affected by pregnancy. You need to take antibiotics to clear up the infection. If they cap a tooth with infection started in it, and the infection continues to grow...you will know a whole new kind of horrible pain. The pressure builds up in the tooth until you want to hit yourself with a hammer just to open it up. I hate to say it, but because you started breast feeding, you did it at the most critical time for your baby. Talk to your dentist, they may advise you that it's time to stop in order to get your teeth fixed properly. I've been there, and you just have to keep going to the dentist until that nerve stops dying, or you get all your teeth fixed. It was horrible, you have my sympathy.

Cleanings com ein varous forms. People with completely healthy teeth and gums just need a prophy and polish. some people have not had a routine cleaning in a while and develop so much tartar calculus that it require a more extensive (invasive cleaning) this is called a debriedment, which is followed at a separate visit by a prophy polish (regular cleaning). this one is two visits. and is done if there is a lot of buildup but no bone loss. If there is bone loss then an even more invasive treatment is done, scaling and root planing. This procedure can require 4 visits, depending on time and extent of the damage. So doctors like to do two quads per visit the uper left and lower left, followed by the upper right and lower right at a different visit. Some like to do one quad at a time meaning 4 visits. After the scalng and root planning is done a prophy is done (regular cleaning) As for pricing, many are not aware that if you use insurance it is not the dentist that sets the price it is the insurance co that set those prices, and what the co pays are.

I suggest you get down and get Colloidal Silver- Ionic Silver is the best (a natural antibiotic that is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeing). It will clear up any infection or anything else going on in there.

You need to go to a better dentist and clear the inside of your teeth (remove the nerves).
