Socrates said "the unexamined life is not worth living." If you don't want to find out what the meaning of life is then go right ahead with your life. But, I tell you don't think that you will not be responsible for the things you have done in this life when you die. If you want to find out what life is about then studying how the world began is essential.

Humans are the most curious animals there are on Earth. Now the Tralframadorians know how the Universe began and really don't care.

Understanding how things occured in the past (e.g. the universe) could lead to huge leaps in technology and physics and allow us to live better in the 'now'.

Living in the 'now' is a good thing, but not if you ignore the past and don't care about what's around the corner.
