If you mean will they send an only child into a combat area, the answer is yes. It will really depend on what specialty he chooses as to where he is sent.

Yes, he can be sent into combat. I thought if two brothers were in the service that one of them wouldn't be sent into a dangerous situation but that's not true either. Both my sons were in the Army at the same time. One was in Iraq and the other was looking for car bombs in Macedonia. If you join they use you were they need you. I'm sorry to tell you this. I know how difficult it can be for the soldier's parents. Have faith in your child and God. He'll be a better man for it.

Yes, he can be sent to combat. The Army doesn't give a damn whether or not he is an only child. They don't care about feelings, they need soldiers.

When you enlist into any of the service branches you are agreeing to do what ever your asked to do to protect his country and fellow service personal no matter where he would be stationed in the states or over seas, so yes he could and probably will be stationed in a combat area.

If he is active then yes. if he is reserved then he might just go for four-six moths or not at all. it also depends on his M.O.S ( what his job would be)

The ways things look it seems that the war is not going to be over soon.
your son is doing what he wants to do(i hope) so be proud of him.
