Do I continue the antibiotics?

My pediatrician put me on antibiotics for a foot infection. I was to take 3 doses daily for 10 days. Its been 10 days but I still have left over medicine, probably from a couple missed doses and such. Do I continue to take the medicine untill its gone or stop since it has been 10 days?

Keep taking the meds till they are gone!! Call your doctor and tell him you missed a couple days and see if you need to retake them for the 10 days. A lot of meds you're supposed to take 10 days consecutively in order for them to work properly. Doesn't cost to call and ask.

Yes. Better to take the rest and make sure the infection is gone than to have it come back. Most people think the infection is gone because they feel better but it comes back. Even if the infection is completely gone it is not like the antibiotics will hurt to take them.

Always finish the medication. The prescribed dose is given for a reason, and if you don't finish the medication, it may not make the problem go away, or if it does, it may come back again. Hope you feel better soon.

Best bet is to take it all, just in case. If you're SURE that the infection is gone, there is no harm in stopping.

I had a tooth infection happen and the same thing happened to me. My antibiotics are good for a year so I'm keeping them around just in case I get another infection somewhen. Then I can take them while I schedule a doctor's appointment.

I think you should question the doctor who prescribed the antibiotic. He knows better.
