Migraine has many triggers. Could be food, could be environmental allergies, could be stress, could be alot of things. Caffeine, sugar and florescent light are also things that other people I've known and treated (I'm a massage therapist among other things)... have had as triggers. I suggest you seek some help in identifying your triggers and learning to avoid them. Migraine is sometimes caused by a "mis mapping" of the brain's wiring that causes it to "short circuit" ... but other than that, it isn't generally caused by something more serious like a brain tumor. If you're truly afraid about the causes, your family doctor can help you with further diagnosis. Good luck!

My son started getting migraines when he was in high school & I have had them for 10 years. I was getting them 2-3 times a week & some would last for 2 days or more. I went to a neurologist & had test run & I was tried on all kinds of meds for migraines. When I lost my health insurance I couldn't afford my meds anymore. I heard about taking Niacin 500 mg a day & that is what I take & it really seems to help. BUT FIRST SEE A DOCTOR to make sure you have nothing else going on. And yes stress causes migraines along with a lack of sleep, your diet, caffeine intake, your sugar levels, your environment, allergies, your spine being out of alignment.
I hope some of this helps.

One thing to check: sometimes eyestrain can give you really bad nauseous headaches that feel like migrains. Do you have trouble reading the fine print in the telephone directory, or sometimes have trouble focussing on the print in a book (especially late at night)? Do you get headaches after spending time on the computer? If so, have your eyesight checked, and you might find you need reading glasses.
