Hunting merely for sport or trophies is cruel, unnecessary, and inhumane.
Hunting for food is not cruel as long the animal is killed quickly and not allowed to suffer more than absolutely necessary. This means don't shoot until you've got a good shot and can be sure of a quick kill. If you don't have a clear shot that can cause quick death, DON'T shoot! Eat what you kill!
As for the idiots at P.E.T.A., I didn't get to the top of the food chain to sneak up on a blade of grass! And I also understand that there is a new meaning for their organization's acronym ... it's now People Eating Tasty Animals!

It's going to depend on your point of view. If you're a member of one of the fringe animal rights groups then just having a pet that you love, feed and care for is cruel.
I grew up in a farming / ranching community and there are those who believe ranching is cruel. I also hunt for game meat and conduct predator/vermin control, there are those who also believe this is cruel.
Ask 100 people that question and you're likely to get 100 different answers.

Hunting isn't cruel because sometimes, certain populations of animals sky rocket, and they need to be put under control so they don't hurt more. Now, it's cruel to just hunt randomly and leave your kill, or hunt just because you like hunting. For example, the Dodo bird became extinct because Europeans found them, thought they were too ugly, shot them all, and left them, just because they were "ugly." That is cruel. But if the rabbit or deer population is high, hunting then eating your kill isn't cruel because you are helping the environment as well as taking what you need.

Populations in the wild are generally stable. Sometimes they grow and sometimes they shrink, but over time they are contained by their environment. When a population shrinks, which it HAS to do from time to time, it is never pretty. Either a shortage of food, a shortage of water, disease, or a temporarty abundance of predators will take a population down.
With proper game management populations are kept below the thresholds that allow the more cruel population checks to manifest.

Yes, depending on the reason for hunting the animal and what use the animal is put to. If you kill just for the fun of it, it is cruel. If you put use to the whole animal, and it is necessary to prevent overpopulation or for survival, than no.

No of course not. Since natural predators were removed years ago, we need ways of managing the population of species.
Hunting is a good way to do this.
Hunters also donate much of their meat to charity so the poor and destitute have good meat to eat.

there are many pros and cons and honestly it depends on how u look at it
pros= food is available, keeps animal population from overpopulating and it is neccesary to life
cons= when not done correctly can cause animals to become extinct, animals r being killed and much of wildlife is being destroyed
