My cat has FIV and he is very thin...he eats pretty good and I feed high quality food to him...?

what foods will fatten him without causing stomach upset? And yes, the vet says just care for him as if he was not ill...good food, clean water, lots of affection...

I likes warmed chicken broth on wet cat food and eats that well and also dry food too...but what else?

Any way you can build up his immune system would help. Good food (35% protein levels), fresh water, maybe 250 mg of lysine (that's a cat dose, we give it to our FIV guys), baked chicken without the skin or bones or coating, some small pieces of raw meat that are ultra fresh. Anything bland that he can keep down.

Stay away from salty things like luncheon meats, hot dogs, canned tuna/mackeral, etc.

There's a very good food for cats with touchy stomachs called Royal Canin Siamese 38 -- Siamese are known to binge and purge with dry foods so this was made for sensitive stomachs AND the protein level is 38%. A good food, and costs $11 for a bag that lasts one month.

Give lots of love too, these guys need to know that people care about them.

I don't have an answer, but are you aware of the Yahoo groups for FIV cats? I don't belong to any but I do belong to other Yahoo groups and I've found them to be very helpful.

If you don't already belong, I recommend going to Yahoo groups, searching for FIV and checking out the various groups out there.

There's sure to be at least one good one where you can get good info for your kitty.
