Her bare patch is about 1.5 inches long... it is red and has yellow scabs coming off of it... its bumpy too... My vet is booked till tues... so I need some suggestions on what it might be... I think it might be from fleas, although, I used advantage on her... that was a few weeks ago. But she still has it... any suggestions or advice would be most appreciated! Thanks!

It could be an allergic reaction to fleas/ticks or something else just like people. My cat used to get scabby on her whole body because she had allergies. If it is an allergy, I know that the vet will tell you to give them like a half of an allergy pill. But I would wait to see what the doctor says first because it might not be an allergy. Just try putting some Vaseline or bag balm on it until you can get to the vet. Those products are safe for the cat.....they are cats so they are going to lick! ha ha. Good luck with everything.

If the bare patch is in the place where you applied the Advantage, it could be from an allergic reaction to Advantage. I had very strange experience with it. I applied it on my cat and some of it got on my phone, the plastic melted. I called the company and the company spokesperson simply said, 'Yeah, sometimes it happens'. Shortly thereafter her hair started falling out. Flea medication is very powerful stuff and sometimes the chemical composition just doesn't agree with the cat. After that incident, my vet gave me Revolution which seemed to work without any adverse effects. So consult your vet and see what he/she says.

This sounds like a type of fungus (like ringworm). I have a mama cat that apparently "carries" the ringworm fungus. Even tho she shows no sign of it herself, she "gives" it to every kitten she births! If you'll rub some Lotrimin or Lamisal into the patch, and keep her from licking it off, you should be able to get rid of the problem in a few days, and her hair will grow back. If you have a cat (mama or otherwise) that's licking the patch, get some spray called......Bitter Apple.....and spray that around the area of the medicine, so it won't get licked back off. Good luck.......
