Tattoo translations??

Question

Can anyone help, i want to get a tattoo done in the very near future but would like it written in a different language, preferable arabic. can anyone help me be writing the name 'julie' in arabic or point me towards a website that can?? thanks

have u talk to the people at the parlor, most have lettering in different lang. because these are so popular now, so they may already know how to do it

I would not trust any websites as there can be many different translations of the same word and the one you end up with whilst quite probably will mean Julie, may also mean something unpleasant in a different context.

I had a Cantonese translation tattoo done when I took a very trusted family friend with me to avoid such things but if that is not available to you, then why not approach your local University or Arabic centre for help. You do not have to tell them it is for a Tattoo simply that you would like to know what your name would be in Arabic and all of it's possible meanings.

Whatever you do please get it right.

I would be careful with websites - I have an arabic tattoo which I translated online, and I checked it on many different translation sites.

Since I had it done, people who read arabic have told me it gives the general gist but is isn't the exact translation. I don't care though as it looks pretty!

My advice would be to seek out somebody who will do it for you and then check it online.

Hi, it is not very easy since it is not an Arab name and the use of vowels in Arabic is complex and does not represent the exact same sound that in Occidental alphabets. Here are several variation (remember read+write from right to left) - tried to put the letters with their names and the occidental order and Arabic order. So it can be written a couple of different ways that would sound like in English like Julee, Yulle, Jlee, Ylee but would be written:

1) Julie would be written eiluJ < Arabic letter order
(middle Lām) ﻠ -L- (damma-long u) و -U- (Initial Jīm) ﺞ - J <
(kasra or long i)-ي -i-

ﺞوﻠي

2)
Yulie = eiluY=
(middle Lām) ﻠ -L- (damma-long u) و -U- (initial Yā) ﻲ - Y <
ي -i- (kasra final long i)

ﻲوﻠي

3) without middle vowels

a) Jli = ilJ
(middle Lām) ﻠ - L (sukūn vowel absence) - ْ (initial Jim) ﺞ - J <
