Brother,
We are always exploring within us (introspection) , and not experimenting ,I think,That is my opinion.
What can we experiment with us?all the four options you gave can not be experimented with.They can better be explored .
So, I think, we think about what are we,where from we are?whither we go after our mortal frames fall ?what is God?What is that that is guiding every second within us?what is sleep and dream?what is the nature of objects,space and time and etc we experience in dream?where from they come and where to they go after we wake up?Who is that is awake when we sleep and tells us we had a good nice sleep or disturbed sleep?who experienced this?
This way I think we explore not experiment.
Correct me if I am wrong please.

We take a body and therefore life in this world in order to express ourselves. There is a cycle in which each one of us has an accurate number of lifes. When this cycle is at the begining we experience peace, happiness, prosperity, purity, love, divinity and others like that. At the midle of the cycle we start experimenting with sorrow and towards the end of the cycle we experience depths of sorrow, powerty, illness of the body and soul, peacelesness, fear, etc.
After this period there is a period of ascending for everyone. At this time, with the help of God's love, we start moving from sorrow-full nature to a peace-full nature. So at this particular time we experience less and less sorrow & more and more peace and happiness.... because we experience the enlightened self in the company of God - the Truth - who gives the experience of Truth within each one of us.
Note:
Some of the souls in this world used to be deity souls (you may call them Gods and Godesses) therefore at the ascending period they begin to experience their perfect form as Deityes and eventually they reach the same stage once again. However even in their perfect stage the highest on high deityes are not God. Every soul is unique and so there is only one you, only one me and only one God. And just like i am not you and you are not me also none of us is God.
And because we can only experience only that which is within us we cannot experience being God because we are not God.

A means to get Happiness
Either by Senses and Mind
Or by Mind control and acceptance of Truth
Or by Quest for the ultimate truth for Enlightment
Or by self relization or God Relization
These are the level we are hanging around trying to find the eternal everlasting exponential happiness, bliss.

i feel it is not experimenting it is a learning process.
thro' this learning process we should know about ourselves.
with that we can experience what is truth. if u know what u r then it is easy to find about god. once u enlighten about all this u will be free of all this material things. u can promoted to higher levels.

We are experimenting nothing in this world all are we are finding is already exists in the world. We are not finding new in this world.
