A dash of red pepper or Mrs. Dash garlic sprinkle is good.

You might try experimenting with some herb & spice blends. Mix ones that sound good until you come up with something you really love. I call this one burger seasoning, but I use it on just about everything.

Take an empty 1.5 or 2 oz. spice jar with a shaker top, and fill almost 1/2 way with black pepper. Now, whatever the volume of pepper in the jar, (maybe an inch or 3/4 of an inch as you judge it by eye) Add 1/3 that amount of garlic powder, and 1/4 that amount of onion powder. Then add a thin layer of BBQ seasoning, and a thin layer of cayenne pepper.

Your shaker jar should look like one of those sand paintings with the different layers of spice, with a little room at the top of the jar. (You need room to shake the contents.)

Now put the lid on and secure so you don't make a mess, and shake very well until all the spices are evenly mixed, and you're ready to go. One of my favorites lately is to mix a teaspoon of this with a teaspoon of salt and one cup plain yogurt to make a dressing for sliced cucumbers and onions.

Using a small amount of olive oil for stir-frying adds a lot of flavor (and it's really healthy). Personally, to "jazz" anything up, I add a mixture of spices. Sometimes really tiny pinches of many different kinds can really make a difference. I like to use spices like marjoram, thyme, rosemary, savory, oregano, and basil for vegetable dishes, and sometimes very small amounts of cumin too. But any spices that you have around your home will work. Even if you wouldn't think that the spice would go well with it (like nutmeg or allspice), as I mentioned before, put in a miniscule amount and it will work well.

There is this amazingly delicious spice in the Spanish section at the grocery store. They even sell it at Acme and Giant. It's with all of the Goya products. It is called Adobo. It comes in three or four different kinds, one is light- low sodium, one without pepper, one without cumin, and regular. I have the regular but will switch to low sodium once it's done. For under $2 you get a rather large plastic bottle (for a spice) and can use it on any veggies (zucchini is my fav grilled with it) or meat. I reallllly hope you try it out! It is a multi purpose awesome goodness spectacular yumminess:)

Make a blend of Cayenne pepper and cumin. Be easy on the Cayenne. Then sprinkle on the veggies and toss. Good flavor with a kick.

Try adding a chicken bullion cube to the cooking water and season with creamery butter, not margarine.

I would suggest you get a vegetable steamer and use fresh squeezed lemon juice or lime juice, depending on the vegetable. Me personally, I use margarine, minced garlic and/or lemon juice depending on the vegetable.

I like to steam them with lemon slices, and sprinkle with rice wine vinegar when cooked. I like lemon pepper on there too.
