Indeed, that was a great article! This part stood out to me: "Sociologists have long drawn a connection between happiness and the sense of community inherent to most religious practice."
I can already imagine the wheels turning in Atheists' brains wondering how they can discredit this. Could it be that although the have their strong beliefs in science, science isn't really uplifting or fulfilling; whereas, we have God's love and grace to enrich our lives.
EDIT: HarryTikos, let's see if your FSM can help your soul when you go to stand before God.

"An extensive survey by The Associated Press and MTV found that people aged 13 to 24 who describe themselves as very spiritual or religious tend to be happier than those who don't."
This is not surprising at all. Nearly all religions teach to love others as you would love yourself. Loving others generates happiness in the person being loved and the person doing the loving.

Ignorance is bliss. Delusions can be a calming
influence that make us happier.
"If you believe the Flying Spaghetti Monster is helping you, then everything else isn't as important and you can trust that there's somebody there for you no matter what," said Molly Luksik, a 21-year-old ballet dancer in Chicago and a Roman Catholic who attends Mass weekly. "Just going to church and everything ... it's very calming, and everyone is nice."
"When it comes to events in your whole life, it's already somewhat laid out for you," he said. "You can stray off to another path. But where the Flying Spaghetti Monster wants you to go, you are going to get there."

The answer is yes...don't give up on our rebellious children. They have to get some separation from their parents, as part of growing up, but God desires that EVERY soul be saved!
