Hi just doing research, anyone knows how the hospitable deals with patients who are unable to move or in coma when they need to pass waste? Like urine or other bodily functions?

Do they get attached to special machines or equipments?

In most Case they will use attends (adult diapers) Placing things like Foley's increases risk of infection. But they will commonly use a Foley catheter. And as far as bowel movements most people who are unable to control their bowel functions use attends. I have only seen rectal tubes used for people that are having bowel clean outs where they are trying to evacuate the bowels.

I don't know what it's called, but they put this tube up the Urethra, and the urine goes into a bag. Umm, I've never heard of how they handle the other...maybe they just let it happen, and then clean it up? Eww, I don't wanna consider it anymore.

Catheters take care of urine. Solid waste I'm not sure.
