hi there! im a tasmanian who just came back from a holiday to italy abit over a month ago. OK you need take a jumper ( one will be fine), long pants, a pair of shorts/skirt/ dress or whatever you want to wear. T-shirts.Take a pair of runners as well as some thongs. I would advise taking a pair of bathers as well as your wetsuits becasue the water can be quite cold. AND of course there are beaches!!!! there are heaps of lovely ones and they are very clean and guess what..they have sand!!take a hat and sunscreen. you will get some lovely sunny days but the weather can change quickly! it could b a lovely sunny day-28 degrees celcius and then later in the day it could start pouring with rain. Night time also gets quite cold.
Just pack abit of everything and you will be right. You will get a lot of Australian dollars for your Euro so you can just go shopping in town and buy some cheap clothes you need.
Hope this has helped

Hobart is more at risk than most other Australian cities from bush fires being smaller and with bushland more extensive and closer. Some Hobart suburbs (South Hobart for example) are included in the Tasmania Fire Service's Bushfire Protection Plan with identified safer places. Bushland close to and even withing the city is more of a risk than weatherboard houses.

Hey,
first of all yay! welcome to Tassie.
Now all the advice I'm giving you is a combination of being a Tasmanian, and having the same predicament last year when I moved to Europe for a year...20 kgs is pathetically small!
In October it is beginning to get warm, but all the same you'll will want a jumper, t-shirts, you'll want both shorts and pants (a pain in the ass i know) but their will be days when you're walking around in shorts, and days when you'll want some pants (unless you don't feel the cold easily) YESSSS bring your flipflops!!!!(thats thongs to us aussies) you will want them during summer. And theres a beach life...lots of beaches after all we're an island! My final piece of advice is...and this is the tough lesson I learnt...only bring the things that you love...so a favourite jacket or shirt...and honestly just buy the rest, there is enough cheap department stores in Hobart to buy the extra things, and no matter how hard you try you'll never be able to fit it ALL in 20 kgs!
Good Luck!

Hey Holly!!,its good to see your visiting tassie and asking the right questions, its about the time that it gets a little warmer but its will be a little windy in some places. If i was you i would pack in between ,definetley bathers some warmer clothes.when the wind picks up. Dont bother with jackets ot wetsuits, just one suitable heavy jumper. If your bushwalking make sure you pack some good boots, but if not comfy sneakers and thongs will do. As to the temp of the water, its debateable,i dont mind it,but januray is much better,so it may still be a little cool for you,but you can buy cheap wetsuits at www.anchorwetsuits.com. Best of luck

I'm not from Tassie but I'm from Melbourne which has a similar climate just not as cold and rainy, you will be there at the end of our spring into the middle of summer and the best way i can describe to you on what to bring is pack for all seasons probably minus the heavy winter coat, but definately pack summer clothes with some warm pants/jumpers.and yes you'll be able to wear thongs

Tasmania has a cooler climate than Sydney but it will be summer then, it will be hot, just bring a jacket for cool nights, yes thongs (flip flops) are worn, sneakers too.
Just dress like you would anywhere in summer, I don't see a dilemna!

Hobart is the same latitude south as Rome is north. Whatever you would wear in Rome and southern Italy in late spring and summer is what you will need in Tasmania.
