You have some options. You can bury it in your yard, but call animal services because you have to bury dead animals so far in the ground. Or you can have a vet clinic take care of the remains by a community burning (with other animals). Or you can have the clinic arrange disposal and you can pick the ashes up when they are ready. These are the only options that you have.

When my friend's dog died she had the body taken in the back of a pick-up truck. Of course they covered it and all but what you do with the body is up to you. You could bury it in your backyard or call a pet cemetery. Some people actually have their pets stuffed though I think that is a wee bit creepy. Then you could always have it cremated. The choice is yours. I think my friend buried it in her dad's backyard since hers was so small.

My dog died 10 years ago and she was quite large. Here in Israel, you are supposed to phone the town hall and they would send someone to take the body and it would end up on the dump. But if you love your dog, this is hard to take, so we called our vet. The vet gave us the number of a lady who, for a fee, would take dead pets and bury them on wild grounds near where she lives and we went with this option. So, I would recommend you call the vet - he or she will know. I am sorry for the loss of your pet :o(

If you aren't going to bury the dog, then you can call your vet or the local SPCA and they can give you info on cremation or pet cemetaries. Our local SPCA has a pet cemetary and also offers cremation for a small fee, and the vet's offices have different people that do cremation for them. You could take the dog to either place and they could take care of things for you.

When our dog got hit by a dump truck and was killed, we wrapped him in a blanket and called the humane society to come get his body. I believe they cremate the bodies.

Growing up, we always buried our deceased pets in the backyard. Other options would be a pet cemetary and there are many places which will cremate your pet and put the remains in an urn. My boyfriend, however, has decided that once his dog has passed on, he will have her stuff and mounted. I think that's rather macabre and not for it, so we shall see.

Lots of good answers here, dont forget to tell your council the dog has passed otherwise they will still sting you for registration fees (if you have it where you are) and you may need the vet to give you a form to produce to the council it is dead

If you don't have land to bury your dog you can have them cremated. If you are not interested in either you can contact your vet about appropriate disposal.

Bury him in a box, then put him deep in the ground. Or take him to a cremation place and get him cremated and spread his ashes outside by a place where he loved, orkeep the ashes in a nice urn. sorry for your loss.
