How can a non-existent being keep promises made by a bunch of dead writers?

A simple example: yes there are a lot of Jews but nowhere close to the "sands of the sea", even metaphorically speaking.

Yes He says in Bhagavad gita:
"Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend."
But the qualification is that you surrender unto Him as He says to His friend Arjuna:
""My dear Arjuna, you are very dear to Me, and therefore only for your good I will disclose the most secret part of My instructions. It is simply this: become a pure devotee of Mine and give yourself unto Me only, and I promise you full spiritual existence, by which you may gain the eternal right of transcendental loving service unto Me. Just give up all other ways of religiosity and exclusively surrender unto Me and believe that I will protect you from your sinful acts, and I shall deliver you. Do not worry any more."

If God says it, it is. there is no need for promises as we know them. He isn't bound by time like we are.

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

1 Samuel 15:29
And also the Strength F79 of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.

Peace be with you

God has already ordained every good thing in your life that you could want. Your job is to learn to accept what is offered. Not always an easy task. Like attracts like, and your thoughts are powerful things. Guard them carefully.
