I am a bit trolly, I ask alot of inane trolly type questions. However, these rarely if ever get deleted. But when I ask a rather thoughtful yet challenging question it gets violated rather quickly. Why is challenging someone to not only believe and practice a thing but also to KNOW WHY they do such a bad thing?

If your belief is not up to the challenge is it worthy of your belief to begin with?

Jamustrip, provoking thought and challenging belief is not a sin at all. Jesus was poking holes in all sorts of human traditions contrary to God's way. Of course, every now and then, people picked up rocks to stone him, and thought provokers had better hone up on their dodgeball skills.

The whole subject of theology is based on belief challenging questions. The church Fathers and doctors (all 33 of them) always had questions, concerns and challenges. Faith is ever growing if you don't ask, you dont' learn.
These people were deep thinkers, try reading about Albert the Great or Augustine or Bonaventura they all worked on reasoning out the faith and coming up with the answers.

I agree with you. If I believe in something, challenging it does not change it or diminish it. So, if I have a belief, I should be able to defend it and explain why I believe the way I believe. Nothing wrong with challenging questions in my book.

I am always more than happy to to debate my religious and spiritual beliefs with anyone as long as they are willing to be respectful. It is unfortunate that others do not see things this way. I think it is mostly people who realize their faith or religion has glitches and prefers to hide their head in the sand rather than see their religion warts and all.

this is a good question .
should we all not continue questioning throughout our lives ?
especially when a belief doesn't ring true , certainly when you are unable to explain or defend in any way beliefs that some say they hold. its difficult for others to take your view seriously as its often left largely unexplained .
so in answer its hard to belive one who cannot justify their position or explain why it may be so.

You will never find the answers you are looking for if you stop asking.

I think the biggest R&S sin is to be closed minded.

"Troll" questions threaten no one because they don't make anybody think.

Thought provoking questions... well... that can REALLY threaten someone ("BLASPHEMY! HOW DARE HE!")

I'm still wondering who makes the wool undershorts so many people on this site wear.
