Yes it does.
The Playstation3 is designed to read DVDs Blu-Rays and CDs(Playstation1).
However... the blu-ray might give the DVD higher definition so it is better than a normal DVD.
Additional Tip: It is good to have a blu-ray around.

it plays DVD's. yes. it can also play audio Cd's. but not mp3 cd's. that blu-ray thingy is something else, don't worry. enjoy DVD's on ur ps3.

yes it will, if you are using a hdmi cable then it will " upscale " the dvd to make it look like hd too.
