This question, and the chosen answer, is the single most damning illustration of religion that I have seen on YA.

One person asks why can't Christians and Muslims get along?

Their answer?: 'Only God can sort it out'

Christians, Muslims? can you do better than this? The rest of us who you say are infidels/unsaved, we are asking you...

What do you say? Do you truly belive in your apocalypse, and that you are fulfilling a 'prophecy'?

If so, you are sending us all to 'hell', hell on earth.

When I read apocalyptic screeds such as replies to these questions, I cannot help but feel actually *scared* that the world is being held to ransom by childish morons who believe they are fighting each other for the real imaginary Daddy.

Religionists, can you do better?

My answer is thus:

If we want to see a change, we have to BE the change.

It starts with one.

Whether other people decide to do the same or not is not up to me...but MY goal is to treat all people, regardless of religion or lack thereof, with love and respect.

This is something I hope to pass on to my children...and if everyone does the same, maybe we can make the world a better place, one person at a time.

What Christians need to do is stand up, and say, "Hey! Those Crusaders and Inquisitors and abortion clinic bombers and Nazis and KKK members were NOT US!"

What Muslims need to do is stand up and say, "Hey! All those attacks on the U.S. and its allies since 1979 (and culminating in 9/11) were NOT US!"

Then MAYBE we can start making Earth a better place. But really, I think this is a bit idealistic. I might be an optimist, but I'm also a realist. I'll do what I can, but I'm only one person, and I can't control anyone else.

The times that I've tried to stoke the fires of tolerance on here I've been reported for it. That should say it all right there.

I do truly believe in the Apocalypse, and that Christ is on the earth now to begin the long march to Armageddon. I would say we will arrive there in approximately seven years, and that the two religions you speak of will be on opposite sides of the fields. One will be destroyed utterly. The other will be lead by him whose name is in the religion.

Strongly put. But probably not far off. Think about the alternative though - Christians and Muslims united, and turning their eyes on us Pagan/Atheist/Agnostic bastards...
