Times have changed. Our needs today are different from the needs of the yesteryears.

It is just like the Taliban. They still insists on living like the days gone by, by insisting their women covering from head to toe and their men with long thick moustache. That is why they are so hated.

There are certain things that were practiced in the past that is no longer appropriate for the present.

I imagine the hardest part about living like Jesus is not truly being able to see the end result. Most people are results oriented and don't appreciate the journey as the most important part.

When people exercise, they often do so to get in shape. It doesn't happen instantly, and that's why most people quit. That and it's hard. But those that do succeed do so because they start to feel better and see results. It's very hard to see results from being a good person because so many people take advantage of good people.

Also, most people don't understand the reasons why Jesus did some of the things he did. Why forsake all your belongings? What purpose does that serve except to make your life hard? Why love your enemies? Won't that leave you open to more attacks?

And don't forget peer pressure. It is much easier to follow the flock then to strike out on your own in pursuit of a higher goal.

Finally, Jesus lived in complete service to a higher power. Our world is not a world of service anymore. It is a world of the individual. Every man for himself. Would you give up EVERYTHING for the ideals of another? Would you follow someone you respect if it meant they get everything they want whilst you gain nothing of your desires?

Christianity is a very strict religion, and has very strict codes. Read the sermon on the mount in Matthew 5, 6, 7.

Let me start off by saying that even though I am a Christian, I have a lot of problems with Christianity... OH and by the way someone answered that Jesus was never tempted.... Wrong, read the Bible before you make those statements... the Devil himself tempted Jesus by offering him the world.

Oh, and to answer the question, I do think Christianity is a strict religion and that is why it is hard to live like Jesus.

To be Christian is the be Christ like. Many religions are based on a list of do's and don'ts though they may be based on Christianity. The bible tells us that our actions can not save us, that only accepting Jesus as our Savior will allow us to go to heaven. Becoming a true Christian will generally help to change a life to want to be more like Jesus and in turn it becomes easier to live more like he did, but none of us could possibly hope to live without sin as he did. It is also human nature to sin and that's what makes it hard to live as Jesus did, as well as the fact that even with accepting Jesus it is difficult to let go of some of the worldly behaviors.

I am certainly no authority on it but I hope that helps.

One reason people think it is difficult to live like Jesus is because it is more of a MIND CHANGE than a physical change. Jesus was compassionate and slow to anger (although he did get angry - he never sinned) he was always forgiving and never judged. Christ's teachings was all about how we should and could live in this life. His main lesson was LOVE!! We have to learn to love one another the same way he loved us - enough that we would give our lives to others in the most unselfish way, not for any gain. We have a hard time forgiving people for the wrong they do to us - think about the folks who have been raped, and I am compassionate and feel for them, but every situation we face, no matter how hurtful and oppressive (blacks, slavery, others and the wrong done to them and their races and cultures) we MUST learn to forgive. How much of that do you see around you??? We are so full of hatred and wanting revenge and greedy - that's not how Jesus was.

It's only because we have to have a changed heart and mind in order to live like Jesus - we have to do more than just say "What would Jesus Do?" We have to do it. We have to see beyond the pain and the mistrust and doubt- we have to see love and reason and forgiveness and compassion and trust and hope.

We have to think 'spiritual' and not so much flesh for the flesh is dying daily - and we are spiritual beings FIRST - we live in a body (our spirit does) and we have the use of our intellect - soul - thinking, talents, gifts, etc. emotions.

I don't think that The Christianity is a strict religion now. But it was so in it's early period. But it lost when St. Paul came forth and handled the religion as he likes. For example, the circumcision was obligatory in Christianity in the early times. St. Paul cancelled it to adjust with Romans.

Jesus was perfect because He lived His life in the spirit not the worldly ways we as people on the other hand want to live in the flesh(material possesions etc.)it is a constant battle for us to remain in the spirit and not fall back into the way the world does things

True Christianity is a strict religion. Most people choose not to follow all the rules because our culture has changed and people feel the Biblical rules are outdated.

Well, he was a selfless person. It's hard to live as a selfless person. How do you let go of everything you are trained to care about to care about everyone in the world like they were your own children.

That's tough. I can only think Gandhi came close to the selfless life. Maybe Buddha and Mohammad and some other famous spiritual people as well but I know much less about them.
