If you are pretty good with your camera take some action shots at basketball and get them printed up. They only cost about 25c. Have them on display at games and take orders. You can sell them for $3 - $5 each. This makes money for you and the players/families get photos to keep.

You need to be aware of copyrights, property rights and privacy rights. Even elementary schools usually have their team names and logo copyrighted - usually by the school system. This applies to high schools, colleges and of course all pro sports.

While its usually okay to take photos of a group attending a political rally or festival, etc., you can run into trouble if you single out one individual in the crowd and publish his or her photograph.

The same holds true if you photograph someones property, such as a rosebush or restored classic car and then incorporate it into a calendar you hope to sell.

Go to shutterbug.com and Search for copyright and property rights. They ran an article a few months ago and it has some excellent reference materials you might want to look at.

One way to raise money would be to print your own calendar of photographs you've taken in state parks or other public places.

Look here:

This describes having a fundraiser by selling portraits, but it may give you an idea.

Good luck.
