Ok now for some experience to answer (although a few answers were well made)
Iran is vulnerable on two fronts that being Afghanistan and Iraq so the threat of invasion is then confused with multiple entry points. Iran’s army is large and organized which for the US makes it easier to kill. It is much simpler to kill something with a defined set of arms and a head then this mess of extremist in Iraq...concerning Iraq let me point out since most of you don’t know what the h#ll your talking about the losses we are taking are nothing to the losses taken from the insurgents trust me I was there and I was doing the shooting and we never lost a guy but we bagged a lot of the enemy. The Iraq Army fell to destruction in 21 days the second time and 31 days the first time whilst the Iranian Army has never been able to defeat the Iraqi Army.
---Now to calm your fears hopefully---
I its very unlikely that the US will attack Iran being as there is no support in the civilian sector as well as the international community at this time. Although you must understand this War in Iraq has had a terrible and unexpected outcome in that it has caused a great deal of international distrust in the Muslim community something in which I am terrified might end up unleashing greater civic problems in the future (i.e. mass racial discrimination). This in turn gives Iran very few allies in the International Community.
So sleep easy your safe from invasion as of right now Iran is safer in an organized state to the world then it would be destroyed like Iraq.
---Although I’m sorry to say this is a Military mans opinion and although you would assume it would be listen to Civilians in recent history have rarely paid any attention to what we have to say that goes for leaders and general population. You can see evidence of how I and my fellow Soldiers opinions are ignored in the forum.
What Iran faces is a difficult task of rebuilding the Muslim image around the world a seemingly tedious and useless act that may make the difference between life or death for your countrymen.

When the US finds a good reason to.
They want Iran to make the first move. Iran better watch itself carefully.
However War does not seem likely because US is stretched too thin with Iraq, and afghanistan to launch a third campaign. But they still have the capability to blow iran out of the mid east if they want too.
By the way I'm iranian too but I am also in the US military too so if they ask me to fight Iran..I will fight iran...But chances are I won't have too

Huh? Dumb question. you're assuming, interior the main blindingly ignorant way available, that if Bush wasn't president, the international could be all sweetness and lightweight. It under no circumstances became into and not in any respect would be. yet, i assume that a Democrat, making use of the Carter / Clinton type (per their heroic strikes of stern lectures and biting lips to help the peoples of Afghanistan, Iraq, Rwanda, Haiti, Somalia, Darfur, etc) would not get right into a warfare with Iran, on a similar time as quickly as they initiate a nuclear replace with Israel, Iraq and Europe. possibly they're going to borrow the "won't be in a position to all of us purely get alongside" speech from "Mars assaults!" and characteristic purely as plenty fulfillment. Please word - regardless of who controls Congress or who's president, Iran would be engaged on getting nuclear weapons and seems to be rationale on threatening different countries with their use, if no longer easily going forward and attempting to tackle Israel. regardless of which occasion is on top of issues, Iran will nonetheless think of of the US via fact the great devil. And regardless of who's president, while Iran starts off attacking others, we can have not have been given any decision yet to oppose them.

hmmm it might happen, but not while there still in Iraq, and Iran will be a lot tougher than Iraq ever was, why because they have a bigger more organized army, they also have weapons that could cause serious damage to countrys to there neighbours and Europe, i would also think USA would have to draft if they went to war with Iran. it would not be a walkover put it that way.

If you think anyone on Yahoo answers will give you the real scoop on that, you have a lot to learn. This is real life. Hope you are one of the good guys.
There are others who love to spread rumors--it's their job.
PS-- to the money guy--most Americans only give so much of a hoot for making money, when it comes to important things, so, "make money, not war" is not going to work here, either (and why are you so concerned with our financial well-being anyway?).

I doubt that we would invade iran, but I could see bombing and launching missles. Raids on varying levels. Maybe even full fledged assaults, but not to take and occupy territory. At the same time trying to foment unrest amongst the people.

Their armies cannot keep iraq under control let alone iran. They could invade and win but they would be faced with another costly gurriela war making the disadvantages outwheigh the benefits.

I think next Tuesday is open.
Seriously, with all of our troops focused on Iraq and still in Afghanistan, I do not believe we have the manpower to invade Iraq.
However, we do have a couple of bombs left over from the Truman administration that have not been used...
